Open Web Apps out in the wild
Ragavan Srinivasan writes that we’ve made the first developer integration release of our Open Web Apps project available! His post includes a great and informative video on what a “web app” is and details on how to take part and next steps for the project. ReadWriteWeb picked up the story and says we make “a better case for web apps in minutes than Google did in months.”
Updated Skype Toolbar Extension Available
A new version of the Skype Toolbar for Firefox was released this week, correcting the conditions that caused Firefox to crash when using the extension. Skype users can obtain the new version of the extension by updating their copy of Skype, or by downloading a new version from the Skype website.
Web O’ Wonder
With the final release of Firefox 4 just around the corner, the new Web O’ Wonder website showcases out-of-this-world demos and illustrates the new web standards support coming in Firefox 4. Awesome new demos will be added regularly so make sure to tune in frequently and enjoy HTML5 goodness. Check out the website here.
Mitchell Baker joins the Ada Initiative Advisory Board
The Ada Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing participation of women in open technology and culture, has just welcomed Mitchell Baker to its advisory board. To find out more about Ada Initiative and its work, visit their official website.
Upgrading graphics drivers for Firefox 4
Firefox 4 supports new technologies such as WebGL and hardware acceleration, but it requires the use of updated graphics drivers for Windows, Mac OS and X11. The Mozilla Hacks blog and Mozilla platform engineer Benoit Jacob share with us where to get the updated graphics drivers to make the most of Firefox 4.
