DemoParty in your town?
DemoParty is our new initiative to foster artful exploration of web technologies. Starting June 1st you will be able to submit your demos to our online competition and win unique prizes. If you would like to get involved and think you can rally some good folks (HTML5 coders, Artists, DemoSceners) in your town, learn more and get in touch.

Contributor Engagement Update

Take part in a Test Day
Help us make our software and websites even better by joining us for one of three upcoming test days. This is a great opportunity to meet other people in the community who are interested in testing, to learn more about our tools and processes, and to find some bugs. Take a look at our upcoming events information below for more details. You can make a difference – Anthony Hughes reports that 80 bugs were triaged in last week’s Firefox Aurora Bug Day.

Mozilla in Indonesia
David Anderson and Josh Aas share their perspectives of the recent Firefox 4 launch events in Indonesia, where the id-Mozilla community leader Viking Karwur organized 8 launch events across the nation. David writes about being mistaken as Justin Bieber and Josh writes about his experience with the community and the culture.

Why We Need Firefox

Last week Glyn Moody wrote about Why We Need Firefox and his thoughts are inspiring for everyone involved in advancing Mozilla’s mission. The article highlights that “in one important respect, Firefox is different from other browsers. That’s because it’s produced by an organisation not out to make as much dosh as possible, but to preserve and promote the Open Web. That, in its turn, leads it to take very different decisions from conventional companies.”

Building a Community Phonebook

Gerv Markham has put together a screencast showing a prototype community phonebook he is building. He wants the phonebook to help make Mozilla feel smaller by creating an easy way to learn who is involved, what they do and how to connect with them. Reinvent TV News Online

Recently, we’ve seen a huge change in video online, but stories with video online today look pretty much the same as local TV news 20 years ago. This is something we hope to change with the first Knight Mozilla news innovation challenge topic. Help us answer the question: how can new web video tools transform news storytelling?

Celebrating Firefox in Argentina

As you might have heard, Firefox 4 celebrations have been echoing across the globe since the release, with organized parties in various countries. Tara Shahian writes about and posts pictures from a launch party in Argentina she went to that was absolutely amazing, a little overwhelming, and totally inspiring.
