Webmaker update, Gladius game engine and more…
about:mozilla is a weekly round-up of news and contribution opportunities. Here’s what’s happening this week.
Mozilla Webmaker Update
Matt Thompson, Chief Storyteller for the Mozilla Foundation, has posted a Webmaker update about Mozilla Open Badges, which has been released as a beta, information on how to apply for the 2012/13 Knight-Mozilla Fellowships, what’s new in Mozilla Popcorn Maker 0.3 and more. So make sure to put it on your reading list.
Gladius – a 3D Game Engine for the Web

The Gladius team at Mozilla has released version 0.1 of the open-source 3D JavaScript game engine for the browser, which is designed to help people write great 3D games for the open web. It’s an early prototype intended to get people’s eyes on the code, APIs, and examples and player’s eyes on their keyboards and mouses. Check out the blog post for a link to a game-in-progress you can play.
Autocomplete on SUMO – From the Community for the Community
Tobias Markus, a long time contributor, has implemented an autocomplete feature that makes it easier for contributors to search for articles while answering questions. After he has created an add-on, a member of the SUMO coding team helped him with coding this feature into the SUMO forum. It’s not only a big step for us, but also a big step for Tobbi.
OpenPhoto launches iPhone app
The OpenPhoto project was highly welcome after their successful campaign last year. It’s an open source photo platform to help Dropbox users to share, organize and enjoy their photos more easily. Now they have launched an iPhone app to share your photos on the go. So download the app or find out more about it.
What’s Up With SUMO?
Michael Verdi has answered this question once again in his blog post. It’s about the current SUMO development sprint, the workshop for a new SUMO Style Guide which starts today and you can also watch the video of the meeting to hear more things about the current status of the SUMO project. You can also take a look at the meeting notes to read more.
