about:mozilla is a weekly round-up of news and contribution opportunities. Here’s what’s happening this week.

MozCamp EU 2012 In a Word: Passion
Lawrence Mandel, who went to this very first MozCamp not a long time ago, is now left with one word in his head: passion. During this awesome event, he learned lots of new things and built many relationships in the probably most interesting event venue in the world. If you want to see some photos of the sessions or watch a short video which captures the spirit of the event, make sure to check out his blog post.

Metro Firefox without Windows 8
Metro Firefox
The brand new and eighth version of Windows comes with a completely new user interface and a touch-screen environment. Matt Brubeck started working on the Firefox Metro UI project, which aims on porting the current appearance of Firefox to this system, a few weeks ago. And now, you can already build it yourself and help the team fixing some bugs. But there’s still an ace up in the sleeve: You can run the “Metro” Firefox even if you don’t have Windows installed! Learn more about how to test it in Matt’s blog post.

Mozilla Festival 2012
Join us for three days of inspired making, learning and celebration in London. This year’s Mozilla Festival will gather more than 800 passionate people to push the frontiers of the open web, learn and make things that will change the world. Designers, journalists, filmmakers and kids from more than 40 different countries will participate in design challenges and learning labs in the huge and modern venue. Are you interested? Go and read Matt Thompson’s blog post to register now and tap the full creative power of the web.

Download Firefox for Android via SMS
The engagement team has launched a fantastic experiment last week. When you open Firefox and see the default start page, you used to see a snippet for installing Firefox on your Android phone. It directed you to the Google Play store, but now it takes you to an all-new landing page where you can send yourself a text message and install it easier than ever before. This new experience is being tested in the United States first. Winston Bowden talks about more details and the future of this project on his blog.

I’m a Mozillian, ask me anything
Tanner Filip, a proud Mozillian, organises an event on the web-platform “Reddit” and it’s all about… you! People from all over the world will be able to ask questions that you can answer. The event, themed “I’m a Mozillian, ask me anything” will take place on the 24th of October. Are you interested? Then join us.
