New Categories on AMO

There are a number of ways to organize and classify add-ons on AMO, but categories are probably the best way to ensure your add-on has maximum exposure to users searching for particular add-ons. We’re very excited to announce that we’ve just added 3 new categories to our site:

If your add-on fits into one of these categories, be sure to add it using the Developer Tools.

Developers should also note that we plan to remove the Toolbars category very soon. This category is a bit of a misfit as it doesn’t actually describe the function or purpose of the add-ons in it. Consumers aren’t like to come to the site thinking “I’d like a toolbar but don’t really care what it does.” After we have automatically tagged all of these add-ons with “toolbar“, we will delete this category.
