Sunbird/Lightning status update (Dec 7)

Hi guys,
we’re making good progress on the road to the upcoming 0.5 release. Here’s the list of fixed bugs since the last status update:

  • Bug 277731
    no way to convert task event
  • Bug 311263
    Adds UTF-8 request headers for CalDAV
  • Bug 333688
    Converts STRING and VARCHAR columns to TEXT to avoid SQLite’s auto-conversion of strings to numbers

    Make CalDAV handle trailing parameters on the URL
  • Bug 359026
    all-day events not included in calculating availability
  • Bug 360120
    selection of scheduled event should be interactive
  • Bug 360513
    Show file type suffix in import/export file picker filter description

    Weekly layout: No preview for ‘Selected events’ selection
  • Bug 361216
    Moves all New Event/Task strings into separate dtd file
  • Bug 361560
    Weekly layout: Sunday of previous week displayed in current week
  • Bug 362743
    add new icons to free/busy dialog and rearrange layout
  • Bug 362921
    moving event to new start-date does not update free/busy grid
  • Bug 362961
    missing relation for custom reminder

    it’d be nice if we can more/faster release even if they are just small changes…

    lfarkas: if you look at the gap between previous releases, I think they are heading in the right direction already! The rewrite and getting to the 0.3 releases took a lot of time, but I think we already see alot more progress now. The upcoming 0.5 release is hopefully not so far away.
    Developers, keep up the good work :)

    lfarkas,
    faster releases would result in a a change set, that is a lot smaller, since the QA overhead would be too high.
    But you can have more releases, if you try out the nightly builds once in a while.

    Is it just me or have you guys really been cranking along in development? Maybe its just the blog that lets us see everything that is going on.

    they really have been speeding along. Mostly, because they had to rewrite most of the backend code which took forever, thats why it seems like they are speeding along now.

    I am also glad to see rapid progress. Of course I have a small nitpick :)
    Is it possible to add more choices to the snooze feature?
    I would particularly like 2 hours, 4 hours added. It would be really nice if this list was user customizable.
