I have also to choose between the two conferences. I will go to San Francisco.
By making speakers and attendees choose between two conferences at the opposite sides of a continent, this overlap looks bad for the MySQL community.

What a fantastic read through.

I work in an operational support role for some large IT systems, though my job is very different it was nice to draw parallels between the same kinds of things that we need to think about, especially reading a bit of the background to this.

Hope you’re prepared for the next firefight or that it simply doesn’t happen

Interesting read, I didn’t know how this stuff was configured. The difference between the “Old” and “Current” images is so big it makes me chuckle! And things seem to be working quite well, I’ve not had any email perf issues since the recovering from the big outage. Nice work!

This happens when a single transaction (such as a full database reload) is that large, as it won’t split a transaction across multiple binlogs. We wind up with 30 GB binlogs every time we reload the Bugzilla staging server with a fresh snapshot of the Bugzilla database.

Congrats to Ryan! I can’t wait to visit him in the London office. (I met him last week while traveling to the Mountain View offce and we had some conversations, he’s awesome and geeky)
