MozArt!

August 25th, 2014 | Category: Mozilla Spaces,News and Events
San Francisco’s 7th floor and Mountain View’s 2nd floor received a brand new piece of art this summer. Mozilla’s Rust logo was fabricated using COR-TEN® steel, is 42″ in diameter and given a nice rusty patina.  These pieces weigh about 100 pounds each and are being mounted very carefully by expert art handlers.

This installation is part of a larger art program that was initiated late last year. John Slater, Sean Martell and Barry Munsterteiger on the creative side with Rob Middleton and Pauline Proffett from WPR, formed a team charged with pulling Mozilla’s art assets and photos into one location and selecting pieces to display in our San Francisco and Mountain View offices. Through that process we’ve established a core art program for Mozilla’s offices that includes the option to install MozSpace logo signage in office reception areas, framed Mozilla branded t-shirts in work spaces and conference rooms, along with a wide variety of Mozilla branded art and photos.
What’s next, you ask? First, we’re moving beyond San Francisco and Mountain View to other MozSpaces.  So if you’re a Mozillian outside of California keep your eyes peeled, new art will likely be coming your way! Next, we’re looking to add local flavor and personality to each office where art is concerned:

Global Maker Party Cantina

August 25th, 2014 | Category: Mozilla Spaces,News and Events
On July 15th, Mozilla kicked-off Maker Party, a 2-month global campaign to teach the web, and to promote web literacy, connected learning and digital skills. What is Maker Party? Through thousands of community-run events around the world, Maker Party unites educators, organizations and enthusiastic web users with hands-on learning and making.
To mark the occasion, MozSpaces all over the world hosted a Maker Party-themed Cantina on July 17th. Local staff in each space demoed some cool Maker Party tools and Mozillians came together to do a jig-saw puzzle with a Maker theme! Check out the site for future interest in attending an event, running your own event or sharing an event you are doing.

MTV2

May 27th, 2014 | Category: Mozilla Spaces,News and Events

On March 14th MVers said goodbye to Castro street and, just days later, on March 17th said hello to their new digs on Evelyn Ave! Many teams worked tirelessly to make a smooth transition to the beautiful new space.

The space was designed to meet the needs of the MV Mozillians. On March 13th, 2013 we launched our MV2014 kickoff meeting. Input and feedback was gathered into a comprehensive survey by MK Think Architects. The 50-page survey results led to key findings of what has worked in other MozSpaces and what needs still weren’t being met. What we discovered was a need for quiet workstations, collaboration areas, a micro gym, larger bike room, multiple break areas and outdoor seating. MTV2 has it all. Enjoy the photo gallery!

Berlin Move!

May 27th, 2014 | Category: Mozilla Spaces,News and Events

MozBerlin opened the doors to their new temp office on 2 May 2014!

Matea Lisica, Shannon Clayton and Lori Jashinsky along with Arzhel Younsi and Ed Lim (our IT brothers) were on the ground to ensure the move went smoothly and all systems were in place. Their hard work shows! The office was operational in just 3 days.  The new office is larger with more conference rooms, a small event space and will have 24 desks when all the furniture arrives.  More soft seating and other goodies will be arriving over the next few weeks.  You can see how bright and sunny it is.  We also have a new Office Services Coordinator in Berlin:  Martyna Sobczak.

Family Day!

May 27th, 2014 | Category: News and Events

On Saturday May 10th, Chris Beard spearheaded Mozilla’s first annual Family Day! It was a huge success with a turnout of over 400 Mozillians and their families.

There were bounce houses, face painting, games, obstacle courses, art projects, incredible food and much more. Most importantly, it was a chance for Mozillians to spend quality time with their co-workers and families together.
