Plugincheck Updated!

April 22nd, 2013 by cbook

Hey Folks,

recently we have updated the Mozilla Plugincheck Page (so far en-US only, other locales ) with new Layout etc.

We are working on support of other Browsers (for those who are not using Firefox yet) so stay tuned. Also when you have ideas how to improve Plugincheck let me know.

Big thanks to Schalk Neethling for updating the Site!

It’s still horribly confused by the Gecko Media Player plugin used on Ubuntu and other Linux distros and offers up a useless “Update Now” link to the genuine QuickTime plugin.

(In order to catch all the sites properly, Gecko Media Player registers itself under the names of other plugins but the plugin check page does still have access to its name.)

    Here’s a screenshot of what’s happening:

I don’t know where to report this problem so, if you could either report it for me or send me an e-mail with instructions, I’d appreciate it.

Just a suggestion, wouldn’t be better to have green buttons when the plugin is updated? It was that way before

Stephan, that is an interesting one indeed, I will have a look at this and see how we can fix this issue. In terms of logging a bug, you can use the following link:

AV, I have to say I agree with you. The state of buttons in the new sandstone style guide are pretty strongly defined but, in this case I am sure we can make an exception.

So, you’ve updated the plugin check page but are still using a screenshot from Firefox 3.6 in the FAQ bit?…

  5. Girish Says:

I also want to say that the FAQ area needs to be updated.

  6. foo Says:

Please add support for Gecko Media Player. It always reports to me that “QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.9″ is vulnerable. But this is just a plugin being emulated by Gecko Media Player.
