Start this year fresh with Mozilla’s tech challenge

If you’ve already ditched your new year’s goals, we’re here to help. How about a refreshening of your online life with new habits and routines?

Are there newsletters you don’t read anymore? Mobile apps you no longer use? Or social media platforms you’ve left (ahem, Twitter)? We want to help.

We’ve put together a month-long challenge to refresh your online life. Each week, we’ll update this blog post with three easy tasks, all of which will take less than 10 minutes to complete. We want to help you build healthy online habits, so you can spend 2023 with fewer worries and more time to enjoy the best of what the internet has to offer

Clean up your devices and your digital footprint

Declutter your digital workspace by deleting unnecessary files on your desktop. To help keep your devices secure, turn on automatic software updates. Got social media accounts that you’ve sworn off for the new year? Here’s a quick guide to deleting online accounts.

Manage your passwords like a pro

We get it: As more of our lives move online, the longer the list of passwords we have to remember. But you don’t have to resort to using your pet’s name, birthday or the word “password.” A password manager like the built-in Firefox password manager, for example, can create strong passwords for you and keep them safe and accessible for when you need to log into your accounts.

Keep your inbox under control

Just like a clean desktop, a manageable inbox can help you stay focused. Hit the unsubscribe button on newsletters you no longer wish to receive. To curate your own reading list of online articles, use Pocket, which lets you save and organize stories so that you can savor them later.

Want to sign up for a shopping discount code? Use Firefox Relay and enter an email mask instead of your true email address to prevent more marketing emails from clogging up your inbox.

Set yourself up for a stress-free 2023

Avoid major headaches like hacking and data breaches this year by limiting what you inadvertently share online. That includes your location with apps that don’t need to know where you are and your web activity with data brokers that sell your profile to ad companies

As a tech company backed by a nonprofit, we’re constantly working to provide internet users what they need to stay secure and private online with products such as the Mozilla VPN and Firefox Monitor. We hope this tech challenge empowers you to take control of your online life all year long.
