Featured add-ons are selected by a community board made up of add-on developers, users, and fans. Board members change every six months. Here’s further information on AMO’s featured content policies.

If you’d like to nominate an add-on for featuring, please send it to amo-featured [at] mozilla [dot] org for the board’s consideration. We welcome you to submit your own add-on!

Good work Scott and the Featured add-ons team

The Criteria for Featured Add-ons states “The add-on must be built with WebExtensions API.”

Out of the 10 addons featured in July, 8 are not built with WebExtensions API and will stop working in November with the release of Firefox 57. One is even marked experimental and has never been updated since it was uploaded for the first time back in 2014 and doesn’t even have full approval of AMO.

Is MDN document for “Criteria for Featured Add-ons” inaccurate?

What 10 featured add-ons of July are you referring to? There are four listed above. And they’re all built with WebExtensions API.

I was referring to the strip on “addons.mozilla.org” that displays Mozilla’s Pick of the Month + 9 other addons.
At the time that I looked in addition to “Privacy Badger” it showed the following:

This add-on has been marked as experimental by its developers (Last Updated: August 11, 2014)
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video_search/?src=hp-dl-promo

        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lightbeam/?src=hp-dl-promo
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/omnisidebar/?src=hp-dl-promo
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/turbo-download-manager/?src=hp-dl-promo
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/donottrackplus/?src=hp-dl-promo
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/facebook-disconnect/?src=hp-dl-promo
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookiekeeper/?src=hp-dl-promo
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-no-buffer/?src=hp-dl-promo

These were featured but no longer:
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/i-dont-care-about-cookies/?src=hp-dl-promo
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/self-destructing-cookies/?src=hp-dl-promo

Incidentally, I would like to mention that in this case both legacy and WebExtension of the addons are featured eg:

        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/font-inspect/?src=cb-dl-featured
        https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/font-finder/?src=cb-dl-featured

The intent of the post has been to improve user experience on AMO in order to provide the best possible and most up-to-date choices to the Mozilla community.

It’s funny how you recommend addons that are not compatbile with the latest version lol
I want to try Privacy Badger!! 😛

It’s compatible! Give it a shot. I use it myself daily.

Well if you look at list of featured extensions:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/?sort=featured
    I see 4 legacy and 6 web-extensions add-ons in the top 10. Or am I wrong?

    1. Andreas wrote on

That’s another list. According to the uBlock developer, Mozilla will remove “Featured” status from all add-ons that are NOT WebExtensions on September 1st, 2017.
