Check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.mozilla.org\/devnews\/index.php\/2008\/10\/14\/firefox-31-beta-1-now-available-for-download\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mozilla Developer News announcement<\/a> reposted below for more details.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Firefox 3.1 Beta 1 is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/en-US\/firefox\/all-beta.html\" target=\"_blank\">now available for download<\/a>. This milestone is focused on testing the core functionality provided by many new features and changes to the platform scheduled for Firefox 3.1. Ongoing planning for Firefox 3.1 can be followed at the <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.mozilla.org\/Firefox3.1\" target=\"_blank\">Firefox 3.1 Planning Center<\/a>, as well as in mozilla.dev.planning and on <a href=\"http:\/\/irc.mozilla.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">irc.mozilla.org<\/a> in #shiretoko.<\/p>\n<p>New features and changes in this milestone that require feedback include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Web standards improvements in the Gecko layout engine<\/li>\n<li>Added support for CSS 2.1 and CSS 3 properties<\/li>\n<li>A new tab-switching shortcut that shows previews of the tab you\u2019re switching to<\/li>\n<li>Improved control over the Smart Location Bar using special characters to restrict your search<\/li>\n<li>Support for new web technologies such as the &lt;video&gt; and &lt;audio&gt; elements, the W3C Geolocation API, JavaScript query selectors, web worker threads, SVG transforms and offline applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More information about new web developer features are available in the <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.mozilla.org\/web-tech\/2008\/10\/14\/firefox-31-beta-1-an-overview-of-features-for-web-developers\/\" target=\"_blank\">Web Tech blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Testers can download <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/en-US\/firefox\/all-beta.html\" target=\"_blank\">Firefox 3.1 Beta 1 builds<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/products\/download.html?product=firefox-3.1b1&amp;os=win&amp;lang=en-US\">Windows<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/products\/download.html?product=firefox-3.1b1&amp;os=osx&amp;lang=en-US\">Mac OS X<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/products\/download.html?product=firefox-3.1b1&amp;os=linux&amp;lang=en-US\">Linux<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/firefox\/all-beta.html\">36 different languages<\/a>.
