Having trouble with Lightning 1.8 ?

I have heard a few reports that calendars are not showing after upgrading to Lightning 1.8. I’d really like to get to the root of the problem and find out if this a code regression or something different. If you are having trouble please comment with the following information:

  • Make sure you are using the right version combination: Lightning 1.8 is compatible to Thunderbird 16.
  • Do you have any other addons installed? I’ve heard about some trouble with the “Calendar Tweaks” extension for example.
  • Open Tools → Error Console and tell me about any error messages you see there
  • Are any calendars no longer in the calendar list on the left side?
  • What kinds of calendars do you have? Local? CalDAV? Google Calendar via the Provider? Other?
  • If you are using the Provider for Google Calendar, what version do you have installed?

Update, with a few common issues:

  • If you are using the Calendar Tweaks Extension, make sure to update to version 4.3.
  • If you are using Lightning 1.8 and the Provider for Google Calendar, please make sure you are using Provider version 0.17
  • If you have a virus scanner that quarantines files, please make sure calbasecomps.dll is not quarantined. Reinstalling Lightning might help.

  1. I’m having problem with TB 16, Lightning 1.8 and Google Provider (0.17 on Linux and 0.18pre on Windows). Under Windows, I have to deactivate calendar caching for all my Google calendars otherwise on one system it doesn’t show up, on another it does, but never adds new events (can’t add new events from TB, won’t show new events added from Google Agenda). Also, it hangs TB for long periods. From what I read, it seems to be an already reported/known bug.

Deactivating cache fixes everything, but obviously I can’t see Google calendars when offline.

  2. I should add: on Linux, with Google provider 0.17, it is running fine. The problem is only seen with 0.18pre on Windows.

  3. I installed 0.18pre on Linux and it does as under Windows: I have to disable calendar caching to fix my problem.

Please let me know what error you are getting or point me to the bug where the issue is known.

      • I was unable to find the original link where I read it on Friday, so I opened a bug to track it with some info. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=804025

      • I don’t know if this is the same thing I’m getting, but periodically I lose the ability to update calendars and tasks. Mostly I am using iCloud. I did not notice this prior to an upgrade to Thunderbird 17.0 and concomitant upgrade to Lightning 1.9. Google Provider 0.18, but I barely use my Google calendar.

No error message of any kind – it simply ignores whatever has been done. Open the task or event, make a bunch of changes, save it, and the changes are simply ignored. This is happening cross-platform, Windows 7 and Mac OS X Mountain Lion. (Have some Linux systems as well, but not properly built up yet, so no Thunderbird functioning there yet.)

I have figured out that deselecting the “offline support” for the calendar/tasks, waiting for the resync (the events/tasks all disappear, then slowly come back), then selecting “offline support” again (causing everything to disappear again, then slowly reappear again) seems to fix it for a few hours, until the next time it happens. The first time it happened, before I discovered this trick, the recovery was much more painful.

  4. After the last Thunderbird update (to v.16.0.1) on Wed. Oct 17, my Lightning add-on is gone! When the Thunderbird update finished, I got the pop-up box saying that my add-on was not compatible and asking if I wanted to search for updates for the add-on. I said Yes. As this has happened multiple times before, I thought I was all set. But instead I have no calendar at all.

I have kept all of my important dates and appointments in Lightning for over a year. What can I do? Is all of my info gone forever???

I have Calendar Tweaks 4.2, Reminder Fox 2.0.1, Silvermel and Charamel XT 1.5.4 (disabled), NoGlass 0.8 (disabled), Test Pilot for Thunderbird 1.3.9 and ThunderBirthDay 0.8.0.

Please try disabling the CalendarTweaks extension and make sure the correct Lightning version is installed.

      • There is no Lightning installed. It is not in my extensions list at all, and there is no calendar listed in the left pane where my folders are listed.

        I have disabled CalendarTweaks.

        • I reinstalled Lightning, and all of my calendar data is there! I am so relieved not to have lost everything. Thanks!!

  5. Hello,

after the update to Thunderbird 16.0.1 and Lightning 1.8 Thunderbird started, but froze afer a few seconds. I also have Provider for Google Calendar 0.18pre installed. I had to use the caching option in past because Thunderbird froze every few minutes for a few seconds (enabling caching stopped that problem).
The hard drive is now working for about two or three hours and Thunderbird is still frozen. There is activity in folder thunderbird\Profiles\6x3dtneu.default\calendar-data: cache.sqlite-journal is created, then its file size decreases and then the file is deleted to be created again (with other file size).
Can you tell me, if Lightning is caught in an endless loop or it is doing correct work? How long can that last? My cache.sqlite is about 15 MB large but does not change…

    Thanks and greetings,
    Steffen

Not quite sure whats happening. Could you try Provider 0.17 instead? Or alternatively Tb 17 beta and Lightning 1.9 beta and Provider 0.18pre.

    • I have updated to Thunderbird 17, updated all google addressbook and calander add-ins, but still am unable to view calander.

I am using Windows XP on a Dell laptop, and everything worked fine until the updates.

  6. Hello —

I updated my Thunderbird to 16.0.1 over the weekend and fired it up for the first time this morning. I’m seeing an issue with my Google Calendar.

    I have
    Thunderbird 16.0.1
    Lightning 1.8
    Provider for Google Calendar 0.17
Exchange 2007/2010 Cal and Tasks Provider 3.0.0-rc3

I see my Google Calendar listed on the left hand side, but it’s grayed out and unchecked

looked in the error console and the only errors/messages I see, as far as I can tell, all have to do with my exchange account….

  7. Is there any logical backup calendar file? I need that data.

Tools says Type Error: Components.classes[‘@mozilla.org/calendar/datetime;1’]is undefined
    Chrome://calendar/content/calUtils.js Line:42

    • Philipp Kewisch

The data is in local.sqlite, which is a sqlite database. You can probably access your data by reinstalling Lightning. Also, if you have a virus scanner, check if it quarantined calbasecomps.dll and if so then restore that.

  8. With Thunderbird 1.6 & Lightning 1.8 & Calendar tweaks 4.0, calendars are not showing.
If uninstalling Calendar tweaks 4.0, all is fine.
With Calendar tweaks 4.3, all is fine

  9. I am running Thunderbird 16.0.1 and Lightning 1.8 together with Provider for Google Calendar 0.17.

The problem: I can no longer set an alarm. In other words: the alarm can be set, but lightning just does not accept it. The little bell does not show up and when I try to reset it then the alarm is no longer there, can be set again and so on……
    What to do?

    • Philipp Kewisch

I’ll need to investigate. I’m working on a new implementation where this bug will probably go away.

  10. I ran into this problem as well. I was able to fix it by downloading the xpi and then installing from that file. Previously I had downloaded and installed from within Thunderbird.

I came across a few other people having this issue. A few of them noticed that a dll was being quarantined by their anti-virus; for low reputation, not a recognized infection. That same dll was missing on my system, but it hadn’t been quarantined.

  11. Thunderbird 16.0.1
    Lightning 1.8
    Provider for Google Calendar 0.17
    (No calendar tweak)

Calendar stopped letting me add events. There is only one calendar showing in the list page-left: “Michael’s Synced Canedar” but it is greyed out. When I double click it the “Switch the calendar on” checkbox is unchecked; I check it and OK the dialog; but doesn’t actually turn the calendar on. ???

    • Fixed it. Somehow one of the update installations disabled the CalDev stored access codes (google email and password), which caused my claendar to not be able to “turn on,” even though it appeared in the Calendar list at page-left. When I restored those, everything works.

  12. My calendars did not show up till I installed a new copy of Provider for Google Calendar 0.17. I don’t know if this was a newer version than I had (I forgot to write down the old version), and Thunderbird/Lightning did not ask me to upgrade, but when I did, my calendars returned

  13. Similar problems here.
I will give lots of details but if this is not the right place to include these I’d be happy to post and assist in resolving this at some other location.

Within the last few weeks my Calendar has stopped retaining new events and dates.
It does show Canadian holidays and some events added months ago but nothing recently.
When I try and add new events they appear to be there but when I shut down and restart Thunderbird the events are gone.
I can see error messages in the log.

Looks like there is an issue with the Enigmail extension. Could you try disabling that extension? What kind of Calendar are you using? Is this a Google Calendar via Provider for Google Calendar?

  14. I just add lightning 1.8 to Thunderbird 16.x. I am running it without a connection to any other calendar. I can see inventions however there is no way to accept, no button or any other type of pick. I was looking for release notes or something else to help me. can you offer some advice on how to accept or decline appointments using lightening?
    Thanks

    • Are you using the provider for Google Calendar? If so, this doesn’t support accepting invitations.

Otherwise, please set up the email address to accept on in the calendar properties dialog.

  15. Arno Schmickler

All my calendars stopped working since I updated to TB16.0.2. I am using lighting 1.8, google provider 0.17 and google contacts 0.6.40 – no other add-ons. I am running Avira Antivirus Premium 2012. I have reinstalled TB, lighting and provider (in that order) and calendar tab still doesn’t show up.

    • If those are the only errors it doesn’t seem like things are going wrong. The calendar tab doesn’t show up at all? How do you open it? If via keyboard shortcut, try the tab icon at the top right.

  16. unable to add office calendar.

  17. I’m also having several warnings in lightning which doesn’t allow thunderbird to start. Had to disable it.

I also use an add signature and a minimize on start add-ons.

  18. Hi I have Thunderbird 16 with Lightning 1.8
    using CalDEV for gmail calender

After a few sync which worked fine, now we are unable to sync any newer calenders.

Checking the error console gave me this:

    Timestamp: 13/11/2012 8:30:58 AM

Warning: XUL box for _moz_generated_content_before element contained an inline #text child, forcing all its children to be wrapped in a block.

    Source File: chrome://calendar/content/calendar-multiday-view.xml
    Line: 2610

    • Please enable calendar.debug.log and calendar.debug.log.verbose in the advanced config editor (Options > Advanced > General > Config Editor) and then rerty the sync. Are you getting any relevant messages in the Error Console ?

  19. Disabled calendar features in Linux can be related to mounting home dir with noexec option.
    Solution could be:
    – move .so away from $HOME/.thunderbird/extensions/… using LD_LIBRARY_PATH or symlinks (I didn’t test this). Will break with lightning update.
    – install lightning package from repo with all executable components placed in system locations.

  20. I run approx. 20 companies using SOGo / Thunderbird / Lightning. Currently keeping clients on version 14 Thunderbird and below due to cache issue with TB/Lightning above this version. I personally am persevering with later versions in the hope the problem is resolved. I have the measure of the problem and can live with it, using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS / Thunderbird 16.02 / Lightning 1.8 / SOGo plugins 10.0.3.
If I start or restart thunderbird I cannot edit any of my 3 calendars (all 3 calendars on same SOGo server). I have to turn off cache on each calendar, then turn cache back on, after this everything works fine. This issue only happens from TB ver 15 onwards, tested on other clients using Windows workstations.

Correction; If I start or restart thunderbird I cannot edit any of my 3 calendars existing events

    • Are you getting any messages in the error console? If not, please enable calendar.debug.log and calendar.debug.log.verbose and post some of the (relevant) log messages, or email them to me.

  21. I’ve been testing TB16 & Lightning 1.8 for deployment but I can’t get it to work properly.
I simply can’t add new events/tasks (greyed out) I can however edit/delete existing ones.

Calender is not connect to anything (just TB and Lightning) no caldav/google, it’s just local.

For the record we are doing a huge jump from TB 5 to 16 and Lightning 1.0b5 to 1.8 (I know, I know… but we had problems with TB 6 and 7, and then no time/too many other priorities)

    • Do you get error console messages? Could you check if it works with a new profile?

        Created a new profile, works… uh, I hope I don’t have to manualy export/import everyone’s calendar…

        • I think I figured it out, for some reason I had a calender readonly true attribute in prefs.js (but that worked in TB 5 – go figure). After i fixed that, everything worked.

Will let you know if this was an isolated incident or if it happens randomly or to everyone.

  22. If I do a copy paste of an event that has a repetition (monthly, annual), I can no longer change the repetition or agenda in the event copied.
The two lists are grayed out.

  23. I have realized a bug in Lightning 1.8 Thunderbird 16
I have added Provider for Google Calendar 0.17
synchronized and specified only one calendar in Thunderbird called “gmailcal”, no additional calendar created.
When I received an invitation in a mail, the Accept, Reject buttons were missing. The header has no any button next to the invitation icon.
If I added at least one private calendar to Lightning, the buttons were displayed.
Should this work with inly one calendar?
    Thanks!

    • This is a known issue, accepting events should not work for Google Calendars. There are some API side issues that keep me from allowing this.

    • I’m sorry I don’t speak Russian. From what the translator tells me, all the issues you mentioned are covered in bugs on bugzilla.mozilla.org. I can’t promise this will happen soon, but at least we have the requests tracked!

  25. Using Lightning 1.9 with Hebrew Thunderbird 17 on Hebrew Win7 Ultimate SP1.
On version 1.7 we had Hebrew translation of Lightning. Since version 1.8 it’s gone. It’s not there with version 1.9 too.

Please fix this if you can.
    Thanks!

    • Sorry, this is out of my reach. The translation for hebrew was not done in time, therefore it could not be included in the release.

      • Thanks philipp.
The Hebrew interface was there on version 1.7, what has changed in version 1.8 and 1.9, interface wise? I didn’t notice any new text that should “break” the Hebrew translation.

Also- if the translation was available in version 1.7, you should not take it off, even if new text is added. In worst-case, it will remain in English.

Please- put it back, and tell me I can I help translating this add-on to Hebrew, maybe I can help speed things up.
        Thanks!

        • Unfortunately our build infrastructure is not set up to do the l10n merge that keeps the English strings, therefore its automatically taken off since its not up to date. There was a small number of strings changed, I think it was about 20-30.

Please contact the Hebrew team, you can find contact info here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Teams:he

There will soon be a 1.9.1 release, if you and Tomer are quick on this I’m sure we can get you into this release.

  26. Just upgraded to TB 17 with Lightning 1.9 & Google Provider 0.17. Calendar now blank.

Google calendar showing in list on left hand side.

Only other extension installed: British Dictionary.

No error messages showing that I can see.

    • All of a sudden Google Calendar entries appearing correctly in Thunderbird. Previously reported Error Console entry no longer appears each time Thunderbird starts up. All a bit of a mystery!

    • Please update the Provider for Google Calendar to version 0.18

  27. HELP!!! This issue also happened on the last upgrade of Thunderbird/Lightning. It makes me freaked out every time I agree to the upgrade. Basically, all my information/events in both calendars has completely disappeared!!!! I really NEED all this as it basically controls my life for the next year. I think from memory last time it sort of self-corrected but gives me no confidence. Can I do something to fix this today!!

    My info:
    Windows 7
Thunderbird 17 (prompted to upgrade today)
Lightning 1.8 (prompted to upgrade today after installing TB 17)
    Provider for Google Calendar 0.17
    Zindus 0.8.41

and some other add-ons that aren’t related.

  28. I updated Lightning to 1.9 when Thunderbird autoupdated to 17.0. My calendar was empty, so I updated Provider for Google Calendar from 0.17 to 0.18 to see if that would fix the problem. After restarting, Thunderbird hung.

I started in safe mode, disabled all add ons, removed Lightning 1.9 and Provider for Google Calendar 0.18. Reinstalling both just causes Thunderbird to hang again. I would provide an error log, but don’t know how since clicking anywhere on Thunderbird after restarting causes it to hang.

Any assistance you can render is greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS
    Thunderbird 17.0
    Lightning 1.9
    Provider for Google Calendar 0.18

    • Could you just let it sit for some time and see if it comes back? I’ve had this intermittently before, but it really just happened once and then things worked. When it stops hanging, please check the error console for messages.

  29. I just updated to Thunderbird 17.0 and Lightning 1.9 and all my Calendar information is gone. The extension enabled are Provider for Google Calendar 0.17, ThunderCal 1.1, and Google Contacts 0.6.40. PLEASE HELP! I need my calendar info.

  30. I’m not sure where this should be submitted to but here are the errors reported on the Error Console. Please redirect me if I should send this somewhere else. There are a bunch of warnings as well, but I’m trying to keep this brief.

I’m running TB 17.0 w/ Lightning 1.19 and Provider 0.17 on Win 7 Pro. My calendars (most of them are Google calendars linked through the Provider) appear on the left hand window, but no entries appear on the calendar itself. I’ve disabled all add-ons except for Lightning and Provider.

  31. with wcap lightning is able to subscribe the other users calendars that are accessible to you.

This does not work with lightning + caldav server.

Can lightning get support for this?

In a similar vein, can this be worked on too https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=790704

    • I’d love to get support for this, but unfortunately its a bit of work to get going. If you know someone willing to spend some time working on those bugs, let me know!

  32. Found https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/caldav-searchsubscribe/ but it’s not as easy to use as the wcap subscribe feature.

  33. Lightning is so a great addon for thunderbird. But nowday’s nothing is working annymore. After the update off thunderbird. Lightning is letting thunderbird crash directly. I have empty’ed out the error log. And here is the new error log after simply starting up thunderbird:

    http://pastebin.com/GjT3uUKH

The only ACTIVATED modules that I have used for this testing purpose are:

    Lightning1.9 true {e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}

    Provider voor Google Agenda0.18 true {a62ef8ec-5fdc-40c2-873c-223b8a6925cc}

    (sorry reply on wrong toppic)

    • This usually happens when the binary component (calbasecomps.dll) is missing or could not be loaded.

      * Make sure you are using the 32 bit version of Thunderbird with the windows version of Lightning
      * Make sure your virus scanner didn’t quarantine calbasecomps.dll

  34. Hi,
I’m using TB 16 and Lightning 1.8 on ubuntu 12.04
I imported an iCal calender, which works just fine as long as I am online. The whole thing is gone as soon as I work offline. I set the cache tag of course. As I could’nt find any advice anywhere I’m troubling you….
    Thanks!

  35. Hi, I forgot to mention, that I set syncronizing to manually and there is quite a bit of info in the error console:

Unfortunately, these messages don’t show anything related. Are there no other error messages?

  36. updated to lightning 1.9. but my calendars still don#t work offline.

  37. Using Lightning 1.9 with latest T’bird build. Having a heck of a time trying to delete events (single or recurring) *if* I have offline support turned on (suing Google calendar, via calDav). Open to suggestions? As of now, the “offline support” option for me is decidedly “broken”.

  38. NoName OnTheNetPlease

    I’m using Lightning 1.9 and Thunderbird 17.
I have 3 Google Calenders added, using CalDav.

Today all 3 lost their check-mark, but they are still in the left-side-panel. A check-mark can’t be set, and if I try to activate them, nothing happens.

I tried to delete on, and install it again, but that didn’t help – I noticed, that I wasn’t asked for login and password. That was strange.

I have one of the calenders on another PC, also in Thunderbird and Lightning, and here it still works.

Yesterday a made a test-entry in the calender: The entry repeated everyday and with no end date, and to spice things up, the repetetition of the event startede before the repeted event was over, wich gave the result, that Lightning place more and more events aside each other as I scrolled through the weeks. I deletede the event, but maybe, this is, what made Lightning buggy?

I tried to install Provider for Google Calender: Nothing changed. No other calender plugIns installed.

    Calbasecomps.dll is not quarantined

My errorlog is in danish, so I’m not sure, it would be meaningfull to paste it here?

Can I reinstalle Lightning and not loose my data?

  39. NoName OnTheNetPlease

PS: No I enablede errorlog for calender, and I get:

    [calFilterProperties] Applying filter:
    start: 4
    end: P31D
    status: null
    due: null
    category: null

When I try to check one of my unchecked Google Calenders.

When I try to enable the calender, I get 3 messages:

    [calFilterProperties] Applying filter:
    start: 4
    end: P31D
    status: null
    due: null
    category: null

CalDAV: Status 401 on initial PROPFIND for calendar Sams Google Kalender

    [calFilterProperties] Applying filter:
    start: 4
    end: P31D
    status: null
    due: null

  40. I’m using TB 17 and Lightning 1.9, and just today I found myself unable to sync to my google calendar because it kept turning itself off every time I went to “properties” and turned it on. No pertinent messages on the error console, nothing. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Lightning to no avail. Doesn’t seem to matter if I have “offline support” off or on. I have no idea what to do now; delete my entire TB profile and hope for the best?

  41. I’m using Provider for Google Calendar 0.18. It has been working fine. Had to force quit and all the sudden Thunderbird/Lightning won’t turn on. I double click the calendar name, click the “switch this calendar on” box, and then click “OK.” It switches on the back off again. Here’s the error message:

    Timestamp: 1/28/13 2:17:44 PM
Error: [calCachedCalendar] replay action failed: null, uri=https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[I’ve deleted the actual account address]/events, result=2147500037, op=[xpconnect wrapped calIOperation]

  42. Iam having trouble with lightning and thunderbird on a windows eight machine… i get a calendar write error

any ideas on what is going on

  43. I had a similar feeling issue with firebug in firefox, with a similar solutions. I am using Lightning 1.9, and Thunderbird 17.0.3 Although this problem started earlier and whatever caused it might have been carried over. The only error I get that seems significant is this one. All the other specifically refer to a newsgroup or rss feed

    Timestamp: 2/25/2013 12:45:17 PM
Error: ERROR addons.manager: Exception calling provider startup: [Exception… “Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [nsIFile.directoryEntries]” nsresult: “0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)” location: “JS frame :: resource:///modules/XPIProvider.jsm :: recursiveLastModifiedTime :: line 1315” data: no]
    Source File: resource:///modules/XPIProvider.jsm
    Line: 1315

I tried to manually delete the lightning extension folder and came a across a strange issue where I was unable to delete a few things despite having admin permissions.

My solution to this and the firebug thing was to create a fresh profile, install lightning, and then manually copy from the old profile to the other, all my personal data, as instructed on this page: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Thunderbird

Everything is happy again. So whatever was preventing this from working was obviously not contained in any of the transferred files.

    Hope this helps someone.

  44. I always loved using Lightning however I have problems installing Lightning 1.9.1 in Thunderbird 17.0.5 on Windows.

Whether via /tools /add-ons and clicking the lightning add on – or downloading lightning, and then via /tools /add-ons clicking the settings button and choosing “install Add-on from file”

Neither is working and it’s absolute drama to work with out it now.

    Error console messages:

    among 15 more other errors.

Surely I can’t be the only person using Thunderbird 17.0.5 with Lightning?

  45. I can confirm that offline-support in GProvider 1.8 do not works.
Is there a -beta release that we can test?

  46. I have never gotten Lightning to work. I have the latest version of TBird and Lightning. I get the following error messages: Timestamp: 6/4/2013 1:51:23 PM

Because I cannot get Lightning to work, I installed Google Calendar but I don’t like it i part because I can’t print it.

I also have Calendar Tweaks 4.4 installed.

  47. Steve Chalastra

For a few days now my Lightning Calendar has been empty. I have three separate calendars that used to show up okay. I’m using Thunderbird 17.0.7, Lightning 1.9.1, and Provider for Google Calendar 0.18.

When I try to sync, the message “Checking Calendars…” sits on the bottom of the screen for about 10 minutes while the log (verbose on) shows only a pair of messages that are repeated several times:

    [calGoogleCalendar] Requesting GET https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/stevechalastra%40gmail.com/private/full?ctz=America%2FToronto&max-results=2147483647&singleevents=false&start-min=2013-07-22T00%3A00%3A00-04%3A00&start-max=2014-07-22T00%3A00%3A00-04%3A00

    [calGoogleCalendar] Requesting GET https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/en6jvsb00autsat5fi54ndcp84%40group.calendar.google.com/private/full?ctz=America%2FToronto&max-results=2147483647&singleevents=false&start-min=2013-07-22T00%3A00%3A00-04%3A00&start-max=2014-07-22T00%3A00%3A00-04%3A00

Eventually the messages changes to “No messages to download”. Maybe so, but where have all my previous entries gone?

    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Steve

    • Philipp Kewisch

Do you get any more messages from the provider? It seems the GET requests are not being answered.

      • Steve Chalastra

My real concern is not so much getting new entries from the provider but all the existing entries I used to have in Lightning which seem to have disappeared.

  48. Gregg Chandler

Having problems synchronizing CalDAV calendars. The URL works with Windows versions of Thunderbird/Lightning, but not Linux Versions. Linux Mint, Version 15 (Olivia), 32-bit. Thunderbird 17.0.7. Lightning 1.9.1. One of the errors is:

    “Error Parsing ICS: 2152333568”

This is NOT a gmail account/server, but CommuniGate.

I also get other errors at time when I attempt to add events to the calendar.

    • Gregg Chandler

My bad, when I recreated the accounts, I accidentally selected ICS. Appears to sync now.

  49. Since updating to Thunderbird 17.0.8 and Lightning 1.9.1, my Outlook.com calendar entries are gone, even though the calendar is listed on the left. This occurs on both Windows XP SP3 and 7. I’ve refreshed the .ics link from Outlook.com, rolled back both TB and Lightning, then reinstalled the current versions, etc. This is the only error console message:

[calICSCalendar] Unable to load stream – status: 2152398878

Any other suggestions? I’m about ready to tear my hair out. The calendar works fine online, fyi. Thanks!

    • Philipp Kewisch

This usually happens when the URL is incorrect or there is a network issue. The long name for that status is NS_ERROR_UNKNOWN_HOST. Maybe a proxy issue?
