Change.\u00a0 For some it’s a bad word.\u00a0 For some it’s exciting.\u00a0 Lately I’ve been stuck, and now I see that change was the next step to stuck.\u00a0 I had to get stuck in order to change.\u00a0 Change will take some letting go.<\/p>\n

So what’ the change?\u00a0 Capture Mozilla is Air.Mozilla too.\u00a0 Duh you say?\u00a0 Sounds simple! Simple yes, easy no.\u00a0 Capture Mozilla was a brain child of mine born from the need to scale knowledge and know how, not in the form of formal training, but in the voice of the Mozillians who are sharing.\u00a0 Here are some things I’m learning that lead to a (change) wider view of knowledge share:<\/p>\n

1) Ownership matters.<\/p>\n

When we build a video, either really scrappy or really produced, we want some ownership. Maybe we don’t want to hand it over to the Capture Mozilla project.\u00a0 Maybe we want to share it, but curate it from a place that is our own, that we have ownership in.<\/p>\n

2) It’s hard to know what’s C-Mo.<\/p>\n

There are 4 distinct channels for Capture Mozilla.\u00a0 Well, what if YOUR knowledge share doesn’t fit?\u00a0 Do we cram you into the C-Mo box?\u00a0 Do we shape your share into the C-Mo mold?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 We follow you.\u00a0 Like Mozillians ourselves, there are many variations of video knowledge share and putting us in a box is limiting.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0 Making your own box makes sense.<\/p>\n

Maybe your knowledge share fits into a C-Mo box.\u00a0 Maybe you and your group or initiative, or subject deserves it’s own box.\u00a0 And that box comes in the form of channels.\u00a0\u00a0 Checkout Air.Mozilla<\/a> channels and see what I mean.\u00a0 They are in their infancy and can only grow with your participation.\u00a0 Someone’s got to go first, it could be you.<\/p>\n

Notice all the “maybe’s” in my post?\u00a0 That’s because I’m still thinking.\u00a0 Less stuck, at the beginning of change and\u00a0 thinking of all the “what’s possible” and “maybe’s”.\u00a0 What I do<\/em> know now is that Capture Mozilla is a project, not a place.\u00a0 Making implicit knowledge explicit though video storytelling can and does happen in channels too.\u00a0 By the way, changing the thrust of my work takes some letting go.\u00a0 And that hurts a little.\u00a0 Change, there’s that work again.<\/p>\n

And so now I see that the first iteration of Capture Mozilla was the baby version.\u00a0 The version that said all short videos live here<\/em>.\u00a0 The idea of\u00a0 Capture Mozilla is growing up and it’s next stage is the freedom of channels.<\/p>\n

It’s a project, an intention, not a place.\u00a0 Whew.<\/p>\n
