Food is vitally important to nourish the body you live in. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Recognition is how we help feed our communities and nourish them as they make us strong. \u00a0Recognition, like food, is for everyone to partake in, and to share.<\/p>\n

\"Used<\/a><\/p>\n

The tools, processes, and systems we use to identify people making contributions in our project vary widely. \u00a0It\u2019s a situation created by valuing freedom of systems over efficiency of systems, and that isn\u2019t something that Mozillians are willing to give up. \u00a0It makes it very hard to know who to give access and recognition to. \u00a0\u00a0The Community Building team is working long term on this problem. \u00a0I\u2019m here to ask you to nourish your community members, on an ongoing basis, by using vouching as a quick and easy way to give meaningful recognition.<\/p>\n

The Community Tools team \u00a0implemented Mozillians.org<\/a> as a first step in allowing people to self identify as supporters or contributors to the Mozilla project. \u00a0\u00a0The vouching system is one of the major ways we identify people who make actual contributions to the project. Read more about that here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Being a vouched Mozillian means something. \u00a0It means you can be invited to large events like our Summit <\/a>. \u00a0It means you can get access to internal calls<\/a> . \u00a0It means you are visible to the project, as a Mozillian helping us move forward. It means we trust you. \u00a0Let\u2019s make our words reflect that trust.<\/p>\n

Since the vouching change was implemented we\u2019ve seen some vouches like:<\/p>\n

\u201c Karl has been around a long time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cCindy makes things.\u201d \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

We can do better than that. \u00a0That is like skipping breakfast. \u00a0You get through it, but nothing nourishing happens.<\/p>\n

For example, compare the vouches above, to this:<\/p>\n

\u201cLindsey worked nights and weekends to help the Release Engineering team finish the release on time – it went out on time with much higher quality thanks to her extra effort!\u201d \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Ask yourself:<\/p>\n
