Just weeks after launching the first Firefox OS devices in India, we are pleased to announce Firefox OS is available to more consumers across Asia with today’s launch in Bangladesh. At a press conference in Dhaka, Grameenphone, the local operator for the Telenor Group, announced <\/a>that sales of the GoFox F15 (produced by Symphony) will start this week.<\/p>\n

“<\/i>This launch was made possible through the cooperation between Grameenphone, Telenor, Mozilla and Symphony,\u201d says Rolv-Erik Spilling, SVP and Head of Telenor Digital. \u201cFor us, it\u2019s important to provide the Bangladeshi market with an easy, affordable and locally relevant mobile internet experience, which the Firefox phone enables.\u201d<\/p>\n

Telenor was one of the first operator partners to support the development of Firefox OS. After launches in Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro in 2013, Telenor now expands its Firefox OS offering to Asia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are happy to partner with Grameenphone, the largest operator in Bangladesh to bring Firefox OS phones to more users in Asia. Telenor\u2019s “internet for all” strategy is well aligned with Mozilla\u2019s mission for Firefox OS – promoting openness, innovation and opportunity online\u201d, said Andreas Gal, Chief Technology Officer, Mozilla.<\/p>\n

The GoFox F15 runs the latest Firefox OS version, featuring enhanced camera options, rich capabilities like built-in social integration with Facebook and Twitter, the Firefox browser, FM radio, Firefox Marketplace and popular apps. Unique to the Grameenphone offering for Bangladesh is the \u201cWowBox\u201d, a feature created by Telenor and a new way in which customers can chose to get free data for internet access through viewing advertising offers on their phone. Interested customers can easily activate the offer by swiping right twice from their home screen.<\/p>\n
