Though, *wildly gestures at news headlines over the past couple of years*, we don\u2019t blame you if you want to stop using the app for good. You may have even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/214376678584711?helpref=faq_content\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deactivated your Facebook account<\/a> before and found that you can log right back in. Here\u2019s how to actually delete Facebook through the mobile app:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Find the <strong>menu icon<\/strong> on the bottom right.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll all the way down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From there, go to <strong>settings &amp; privacy<\/strong> &gt; <strong>personal and account information<\/strong> &gt; <strong>account ownership and control<\/strong> &gt; <strong>deactivation and deletion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>delete account<\/strong>, then <strong>continue to<\/strong> <strong>account deletion<\/strong> &gt; <strong>continue to account deletion<\/strong> &gt; <strong>delete account<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your password, hit <strong>continue<\/strong> and click on <strong>delete account<\/strong>. Facebook will start deleting your account in 30 days, just make sure not to log back in before then.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how to delete Facebook through your browser:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Find the <strong>account icon<\/strong> (it looks like an upside-down triangle in the top right corner).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From there, go to <strong>settings &amp; privacy<\/strong> &gt; <strong>settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>your Facebook information<\/strong> &gt; <strong>deactivation and deletion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>delete account<\/strong>, then continue to <strong>account deletion<\/strong> &gt; <strong>delete account<\/strong> &gt; <strong>confirm deletion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It may take up to 90 days to delete everything you\u2019ve posted, according to Facebook. Also note that the company says after that period, it may keep copies of your data in \u201cbackup storage\u201d to recover in some instances such as software error and legal issues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/224562897555674\"><em>More information from Facebook<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With our lives so online, our digital space can get messy with inactive and unnecessary accounts \u2014 and forgetting about them can pose a security risk.
