Every Monday and Thursday, queer comedy writer and actor Brandon Kyle Goodman<\/a> asks their 176,000 Instagram followers to tell them something good or messy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

People who tune into the Instagram Stories series<\/a>, called \u201cMessy Mondays\u201d and \u201cThot Thursdays,\u201d send in submissions that are indeed good, messy or both. Some share their kinks. Others inquire about techniques they want to try in bed. One asked for advice for people who struggle with getting in the mood. Another confessed to having slept with their therapist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In turn, Brandon asks their own questions (\u201cwhat\u2019s your favorite phrase to tell someone you want them?\u201d), shares musings (\u201cI think \u2018Babe\u2019 was a gay movie.<\/a> I think it was my gay awakening\u201d), gives smart advice (\u201cfind a new therapist\u201d) and does demonstrations. NSFW memes are deployed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One can\u2019t help but laugh along with Brandon, who also writes for and voices the queer character Walter the Lovebug in the Netflix animated show \u201cBig Mouth\u201d<\/a> and its spinoff, \u201cHuman Resources.\u201d<\/a> They\u2019re also the author of \u201cYou Gotta Be You,\u201d<\/a> part memoir and part humorous self-help guide out this September, that Brandon hopes will help people like them \u2014 who\u2019s nonbinary and Black \u2014 feel less alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This intention is also what\u2019s behind Brandon\u2019s social media series, which, while irreverently funny, can also turn tender. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once, Brandon\u2019s husband made an appearance and shared his new fondness for being kissed in his stomach, an area he used to be sensitive about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sitting next to him, Brandon said \u201cthis is why I love talking about sex, because of the ability to reclaim your body and your sexuality.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brandon makes periodic reminders that their account is a safe space, where people can be joyous about queer sex. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 35-year-old first gained notice on social media during a particularly dark time in the world. In 2020, the comedy writer had virtually gone back to work after a lunch break, during which they watched the video of a white police officer kill George Floyd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI logged back onto my Zoom and sat there for the next three or four hours pitching jokes with my non-Black and white colleagues,\u201d Brandon said. \u201cNo one had mentioned it. It had just happened, and so they might not have seen it. But it was wild to me that I was sitting there, not speaking about it and continuing my day as if I didn\u2019t just watch this Black man get murdered for nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, Brandon posted a 7-minute video on Instagram addressed to \u201cmy white friends.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese are my thoughts and I hope it will compel you and yours to be ACTIVE in the fight for our Black lives,\u201d the caption says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
