Firefox turns 20<\/a> this year, so here\u2019s a bit of history: When Mozilla set out to brainstorm a new browser name<\/a>, the team played with combinations of animals and natural elements. \u201cFire\u201d and \u201cfox\u201d got paired on a whiteboard, and a quick web search turned up red pandas<\/a> \u2014 known locally as \u201cfirefoxes.\u201d They were unique, rare and perfect for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, we\u2019re celebrating that connection by partnering with the Red Panda Network<\/a> to help raise awareness for the protection of these remarkable creatures and their Himalayan habitat. Red pandas play a crucial role in their ecosystem, helping sustain one of the world\u2019s most biodiverse regions, filled with endangered species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
