Every week, people in the community are throwing events all over the world to celebrate Maker Party. We’ve been showcasing many of those events and the cool things people are making on this blog, but there’s still more to share!
Here’s what happened this past week:
Bonny Island, Nigeria
The Mozilla Nigeria Community took part in the fun by planning a Maker Party in Bonny Island, Nigeria. The theme of the event was “Creating web solutions to real life problems” through Thimble. Check out this cool make on the causes of road accidents.
Last week our Hive Chicago team was planning for STEAM Studio which is a pop-up maker space in the Chicago Cultural Center, July 22-26, 2013, where high school teens used digital and physical tools to design and produce media and wearable fashions inspired by Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Check out this blog post on the event that also describes why Chicago Summer of Learning is important for Chicago youth.
Girls Learning Code recapped their awesome July Webmaker camp for young girls with a day by day recap in this blog post. The week consisted of different activities that taught the girls how to leverage technology and use it to become a better leader.
Hack and Chat Maker Party happened this week in Dundee at the Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) centre. The event brought together artists, biologists and computer scientist to congregate, share their experiences and make things together.
The Summer Quest Maker Party is happening today at the Bronx Library Center with 300 middle school students enrolled in NYC Summer Quest, a five-week summer learning program. The event features projects ranging from stop-motion animation and HTML/CSS programming to digital beat-making and building paper circuits.
