Welcome to the third week of Maker Party! The last two weeks have been very exciting and we have seen people all over the world step up to help us teach the web by planning and throwing events.  Let’s take a closer look at some of the awesome events that made last week great.

Here’s what happened last week:

Code for Nepal’s Digital Empowerment Training – July 21-August 1st, Nepal
20 young women are being taken through a two-week course to improve their digital skills, including coding, blogging, and social media management, as well as entrepreneurship and leadership training. Get more information about the event here.
CoderDojo Girls: The Maker Party – July 21-24th, Charlottesville, Virginia
In this week-long event a group of young girls were given the opportunity to become full-fledged makers. By using Scratch, Makey Makey, Thimble and other tools, these girls learned to code a song, make game controllers, create animations and so much more! Check out their Makes, Pictures and more.
Steam Studio: July 21-25th, Chicago, U.S.
Participants of Steam Studio’s design bootcamp faced real world challenges where youth were required to use a variety of design and production tools to create artifacts. More information and the week’s activities and pictures can be found here .
Science Lab Global Sprint – July 22-23th, around the world 
Over 22 cities around the world participated in this 52 hour sprint on tools, lesson materials and resources for open science. Lessons and materials included medical imaging, Bioinformatics, materials for data on the web, data visualization and more. See the Makes and read the blog here.
Mozilla and WeTech’s Woman Maker Party – July 23rd, Delhi
A small group of women gathered in Delhi to talk open source and make with each other.  In this celebration we saw discussions around females in technology and for many, their first hands-on training for how to make on the web. Read the recap and see the pictures here.
