In August of this year, we convened a group of 13 artists, technologists, journalists and educators and presented them with a challenge: build something with Webmaker and share your creative process.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWe gave them one month and waited with increasing excitement and curiosity to see how they would use our tools <a title=\"Webmaker tools\" href=\"https:\/\/webmaker.org\/en-US\/tools\" target=\"_blank\">Thimble, Popcorn Maker and X-Ray Goggles<\/a> to combine the creative with the digital.<br \/>\nToday, we&#8217;re pleased to present some of the projects created by four of our Webmaker Fellows:<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Stephen Fortune<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Stephen is a London-based interactive media artist, a technologist and the technology editor of DAZED + Confused Magazine.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/stephenfortune.makes.org\/thimble\/automatic-equines\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-10446 alignleft\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/webmakerblog.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/sf-3-252x157.jpeg\" width=\"252\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nHis first project, <strong><a title=\"Blinking Selfies\" href=\"http:\/\/stephenfortune.makes.org\/goggles\/stephenfortunes-remix-of-stephenfortunes-remix-of-buzzfeed\" target=\"_blank\">Blinking Selfies<\/a><\/strong>, explores the relationship between eyes and attention. <a title=\"Remember You're Winning\" href=\"https:\/\/stephenfortune.makes.org\/popcorn\/1ff5\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Remember You&#8217;re Winning<\/strong><\/a> creates a story using stock library &#8220;business&#8221; GIFS, and <a title=\"Automatic Equines\" href=\"https:\/\/stephenfortune.makes.org\/thimble\/automatic-equines\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Automatic Equines<\/strong> <\/a>uses Thimble to pay homage to the late horse_ebooks.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nStephen&#8217;s blogs about his webmaking experience received a lot of attention, especially when John Cusack and Anonymous shared <a title=\"Break the Internet\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/artsandculture\/article\/17156\/1\/break-the-internet\" target=\"_blank\">Break the Internet<\/a> on Twitter.\u00a0 Read his other two posts <a title=\"Be Your Own Director\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/artsandculture\/article\/17271\/1\/be-your-own-director\" target=\"_blank\">Direct your own GIF Film<\/a> and <a title=\"Superpowered Site Building\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/artsandculture\/article\/17385\/1\/superpowered-site-building\" target=\"_blank\">Superpowered Site Building<\/a>.<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;HTML, the language to which we owe the web we know, is the broadest blank canvas you could wish for. If you want to make or learn Thimble as tool and community is a great destination to begin from.&#8221;<\/em> &#8212; Stephen Fortune, Mozilla Webmaker Fellow<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Alan Levine<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Alan, also known as Cogdog, is an Arizona-based photographer and educational technologist.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/cogdog.makes.org\/popcorn\/1gap\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/webmakerblog.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/I-Found-a-Camera...-2013-10-16-16-16-16-252x150.jpeg\" width=\"252\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>His interactive Popcorn video, <strong><a title=\"I Found a Camera\" href=\"https:\/\/cogdog.makes.org\/popcorn\/1gap\" target=\"_blank\">I Found a Camera<\/a><\/strong>, uses a Flickr tag search to generate pictures on a mysterious found camera. Because the tag brings up new images as they are added to Flickr, the video is different every day. <strong><a title=\"MoPoCoPa\" href=\"http:\/\/p.webremixes.org\/erdlklkd\" target=\"_blank\">Mom Powered Comment Patrol<\/a> <\/strong>offers a strong commentary on Youtube culture through the imagined #MoPoCoPa movement.\u00a0 <strong><a title=\"What is on your ingredients label?\" href=\"https:\/\/cogdog.makes.org\/thimble\/what-are-your-ingredients\" target=\"_blank\">What is On Your Ingredients Label<\/a><\/strong>, a playful Thimble page, imagines if your personality had an ingredients and nutrition label.<br \/>\nAlan carefully detailed each stage of his creative process in his blogs, <a title=\"I Found a Camera in Popcorn\" href=\"http:\/\/cogdogblog.com\/2013\/10\/01\/i-found-a-camera-in-popcorn\/\" target=\"_blank\">I Found a Camera in Popcorn<\/a>, <a title=\"Mom Powered Comment Patrol\" href=\"http:\/\/cogdogblog.com\/2013\/10\/04\/mom-powered-comment-patrol\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mom Powered Comment Patrol<\/a> and <a title=\"Thimbling a Can of Beans\" href=\"http:\/\/cogdogblog.com\/2013\/09\/24\/thimbling-a-can-of-beans\/\" target=\"_blank\">Thimbling a Can of Beans<\/a>.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Steph Guthrie<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Steph is a feminist advocate and community manager in Toronto. She gets people talking about topics like labour, politics, gender justice and education.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/stephguthrie.makes.org\/popcorn\/1fmq\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"What happens in Rob Ford's office stays in Rob Ford's office 2013-10-16 16-33-27\" src=\"http:\/\/webmakerblog.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/What-happens-in-Rob-Ford39s-office-stays-in-Rob-Ford39s-office-2013-10-16-16-33-27-252x153.jpeg\" width=\"252\" height=\"153\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nTrue to form, Steph dove headfirst into politics with a Popcorn video titled <a title=\"What Happens in Rob Ford's Office Stays in Rob Ford's Office\" href=\"https:\/\/stephguthrie.makes.org\/popcorn\/1fmq\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>What Happens in Rob Ford&#8217;s Office Stays in Rob Ford&#8217;s Office<\/strong><\/a>, which used news headlines to address a statement by the controversial Toronto mayor.
