{"id":109,"date":"2014-05-12T00:01:20","date_gmt":"2014-05-12T07:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/gigabit\/?p=109"},"modified":"2019-02-26T12:42:08","modified_gmt":"2019-02-26T20:42:08","slug":"summer-round-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/foundation-archive\/mozilla-learning\/summer-round-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Application Window Now Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>The second application window for the Mozilla Gigabit Community Fund is now open! \u00a0<\/b><br \/>\nApplications for the summer round of the Gigabit Community\u00a0Fund will be accepted through\u00a0<b>Friday, June 13, 2014<\/b> at <b>11:59:59 PM PT. \u00a0<\/b>The pilot period for second round\u00a0is\u00a0<strong>July 11 through September 26, 2014<\/strong> &#8211; perfect for fall classes and programs!<br \/>\nThe focus for the new round remains on innovation in education and workforce development that leverages next generation gigabit technology in Kansas City and Chattanooga. \u00a0The challenge? \u00a0To think about how technology can transform how we learn, how we\u00a0engage students, and how we connect youth\u00a0to 21st century careers and skills. \u00a0We are investing in ideas that use the Gig to shape learning outcomes, and we\u2019re investing in KC and Chattanooga.<br \/>\nAll Gigabit Community Fund projects must: (1) be piloted in the Chattanooga, TN and\/or Kansas City, MO metropolitan region, (2) focus on workforce development or education, and (3) leverage the Gig network in these cities. \u00a0\u00a0We\u2019re looking for exemplar models of gig applications in live classrooms and educational spaces. \u00a0For project inspiration, just take a look at the Gigabit Projects from Round 1 in <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.mozilla.org\/Webmaker\/HiveKansasCity\">KC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.mozilla.org\/Webmaker\/HiveChattanooga\">Chattanooga<\/a>.<br \/>\nThough the basic criteria haven\u2019t changed, we encourage you to carefully review the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/gigabit\/terms\/\">Fund Rules, Terms, and Conditions<\/a> and to make note of the following additions for the summer round:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Clearly explain your planned pilot and its learning outcomes.<\/b> Where is the pilot happening? Who\u2019s involved? What are participants learning?
