Building upon the success of Hive Toronto\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/blog..org\/hive_toronto\" target=\"_blank\">2013 Collaborative Community Projects<\/a>, the 2014 projects have evolved to include both new Hive members and community partners.<\/p>\n<h3>The following projects have received funding:<\/h3>\n<h4><strong>MakerSchools<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>MakerKids, Kids Learning Code, and the Toronto Public Library (TPL) are collaborating to create activities, trainings, and resources to integrate connected learning into schools \u2013 learning that is production-centred, interest-powered, and peer-supported.<br \/>\n<strong>Lead:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.makerkids.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">MakerKids<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Partners:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/learninglabs.org\/members\/kids-learning-code\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kids Learning Code<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torontopubliclibrary.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto Public Library (TPL)<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/hivetoronto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/12209175163_abed28e624_b.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5369\" src=\"http:\/\/hivetoronto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/12209175163_abed28e624_b.jpg\" alt=\"12209175163_abed28e624_b\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Youth RadioZilla<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Inspired by Hive NYC\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnyc.org\/shows\/rookies\/\">Radio Rookies<\/a>, two Toronto-based Hivers will\u00a0 collaborate to produce a youth-led internet radio series, school curriculum guide, audiovisual slide shows using Webmaker tools and a\u00a0 project documentary.<br \/>\n<strong>Lead:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.regentparkfocus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Regent Park Focus Youth Media Arts Centre<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Partners:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facinghistory.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Facing History and Ourselves<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tdsb.on.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto District School Board teachers<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerstv.com\/common\/splash.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Rogers TV (community partner)<\/a>, and a Canadian Aboriginal artist (community partner)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/hivetoronto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF8319.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5373\" src=\"http:\/\/hivetoronto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF8319-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF8319\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Fashion Futures<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Fashion Futures is a series of sharable open source learning modules that encourage creative\/critical explorations of the future of what we wear and our interactions with our environment through an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach to investigative design and knowledge-building.<br \/>\n<strong>Lead:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.textilemuseum.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Textile Museum of Canada<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Partners:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ago.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Art Gallery of Ontario<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torontopubliclibrary.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto Public Library (TPL)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sketch.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">SKETCH<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/hivetoronto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/9902265143_d1aa78fcd8_b-e1401114454269.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5375\" src=\"http:\/\/hivetoronto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/9902265143_d1aa78fcd8_b-e1401114454269.jpg\" alt=\"9902265143_d1aa78fcd8_b\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>An Alien Has Landed<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A spaceship lands at Pauline Public School and it\u2019s up to the students to use digital tools and social media to get the story out there before it\u2019s too late. Students will document and share the clues about the alien\u2019s identity and the story behind the mysterious crash landing.
