Teaching Kit<\/a>. This kit, aimed at helping educators teach the web offline, was <a href=\"http:\/\/webmakerblog.wpengine.com\/lets-teach-the-web-offline\">started in partnership with the community this April<\/a> and has involved the work of more than 15 authors in a variety of different regions.<br \/>\nTo meet the needs in a variety of lo-fidelity and offline settings, the kit has been <a href=\"https:\/\/keyboardkat.makes.org\/thimble\/LTIxMDA3NTY0ODA=\/lofi-nofi-teaching-kit\">divided into three sets of activities<\/a> that can be mixed and matched depending on the environment:<br \/>\n1) No-fi games and simulations<br \/>\n2) Lo-fi and paper-based activities<br \/>\n3) Getting creative with limited connectivity and devices<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/s18.postimg.org\/kqvbb9eax\/kitthumb2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600px\" \/><br \/>\nEach activity explores the Web Literacy Map in a new way using creative methods and unexpected materials. Highlights include:<br \/>\nA <a href=\"https:\/\/kellyandkathleen.makes.org\/thimble\/catch-a-network-signal\">lesson in mesh networking techniques<\/a> by Team Mesh;<br \/>\nA paper-based <a href=\"https:\/\/juliahivenyc.makes.org\/thimble\/MTgwOTQ0ODk2\/web-mechanics-speed-dating\">speed dating activity that teaches web mechanics<\/a>, by HIVE NYC Programme Manager Julia Vallera;<br \/>\nA <a href=\"https:\/\/amaciel.makes.org\/thimble\/LTUwNzY0MTg1Ng==\/prototipando-kits-con-dibujos-y-bocetos-en-papel\">Spanish translation<\/a> of the Teaching Kit Design Canvas activity by Alvar Maciel;<br \/>\nA <a href=\"https:\/\/chadsansing.makes.org\/thimble\/MzM0MDM2OTky\/hack-your-notebook-day-teaching-kit\">notebook hacking exercise to work with simple electronics<\/a>, by Chad Sansing, Jen Dick, Jie Qi and David Cole with the National Writing Project;<br \/>\nA <a href=\"https:\/\/mozteach.makes.org\/thimble\/a-beginners-guide-to-game-makery\">beginner&#8217;s guide to creative game-makery<\/a>, by designer Chloe Varelidi;<br \/>\nA recipe for <a href=\"https:\/\/dunebuggie.makes.org\/thimble\/LTE5MzM3MDUyMTY=\/kidzilla-teaching-kit\">creating lo-fi Webmaker clubs in Indian schools<\/a> by the Sathyabama Firefox Club;<br \/>\nAn <a href=\"https:\/\/urbanstorytellers.makes.org\/thimble\/activity-02-urban-stories-how-to\">urban storytelling field manual<\/a> by Andi Argast and Michelle Gay at the University of Toronto; and<br \/>\nThe <a href=\"https:\/\/jess.makes.org\/thimble\/MTY3NTY4OTk4NA==\/mobile-design-ideation-kit\">Mobile Design Ideation Kit<\/a> by designer Jess Klein.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/s18.postimg.org\/eeg61fb8p\/paperprototype1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600px\" \/><br \/>\nWhile we are all excited to have v1 shipped and in the wild, <strong>this kit is very much a work in progress<\/strong>. We would love to see these activities translated into a variety of languages. We&#8217;d also love to see contributions from authors <strong>located in developing or recently-connected regions,<\/strong> as well as from educators, hackers and designers and who have new ideas for teaching the web in unexpected places.
