On June 23 2015 the Mozilla Science Lab announced it\u2019s call for applications to their inaugural class of 2015 Mozilla Fellows for Science and as of today there are only three weeks left till the close of applications on <\/span>August 14, 2015<\/b><\/span> at 11:59PM EDT.<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<\/p>\n

In our original call for applications<\/a> <\/span>we provided information on the expectations , eligibility criteria and benefits of becoming a Mozilla Fellow for Science.\u00a0 If you are still wondering whether you should apply,<\/a> here are some additional ‘things to consider’ that we hope will encourage you to take that final step.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p>\n

If selected<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0 you will not only be offered a unique opportunity to influence the future of open science and data sharing within your institution you will also be have a chance to go for something bigger, the chance to influence how research is done now and in the future and how you can help to make it more open and collaborative.\u00a0 To add to this you’ll be joining the broader Mozilla Fellows community that includes <\/span>the Open News Fellows<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>the Mozilla Developer Network (MDN) Fellows<\/a><\/span> and <\/span>the Open Web Fellows<\/a><\/span> and as part of this larger group of fellows you’ll be afforded the additional benefits that come with \u201cstrength in numbers\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p>\n

Fellows will have opportunities to work with other like-minded people in their community of practice and across Mozilla allowing them to increase the depth of their expertise and broaden their networking opportunities.\u00a0 Even though areas of expertise will differ across the different fellows cohorts<\/span>,<\/span> there will be many areas of commonality in the ways that we build tools and develop projects<\/span>.<\/span> T<\/span>here are unifying principals that will allow the fellows to collaborate with each other to become effective change agents on a broader scale.
