Imagine what we can accomplish with collaborative tools, open content and partnerships between science and tech. MozFest is a great place to make this a reality.<\/p>\n<p>This year the Science Lab is hosting the &#8220;Open Science Track&#8221; at MozFest and we are looking for proposals for two session formats:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sprint sessions (~ 1 hr) &#8211; project-based, hands-on, or discussion oriented<\/li>\n<li>Training sessions (~ 3 hr) &#8211; a deeper dive on technologies such as GitHub, IPython Notebook\/Jupyter, open data and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are some of the amazing sessions that were run at last year&#8217;s event. Take a look ! Maybe for inspiration ?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Improving Reference Management in Wikipedia<\/strong> &#8211; test drive new methods for Wikipedia to better curate and manage scholarly metadata with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/@EvoMRI\">Daniel Mietchen<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Online Tools for Open Science and Data-Driven Publishing<\/strong> &#8211; get some hands on experience using next-generation authoring tools designed to promote seamless collaboration in the sciences &#8211; with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/@writelatex\">John Lees-Miller<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/authorea\">Nathan Jenkins<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/riffynic\">Matthew Cockerill<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Storytelling from space<\/strong> &#8211; learn the basics of remote sensing and work with satellite data from NASA in this data storytelling session &#8211; with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/btjakes\">Brian Jacobs<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Text as data &#8211; humanities and social science<\/strong> &#8211; Test drive new course materials for teaching the Python Natural Language Toolkit for use in the humanities &#8211; with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FCTweedie\">Fiona Tweedie<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hacking Hacking the Library<\/strong> &#8211; help remix and extend existing coding skill &#8211; building material for use as coding lessons for the librarian community &#8211; with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/riordan\">Dave Riordan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/auremoser\">Aurelia Moser<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ag_dubs\">Ashley Williams<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/little_wow\">Jennie Halperin<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can see a full list of all sessions <a href=\"https:\/\/mozillascience.org\/mozfest-2014\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Open Research Accelerator&#8221;<\/strong> &#8211; the Science Lab will be introducing the Open Research Accelerator at MozFest 2015.\u00a0 This initiative focuses on practical training for getting started in open source as well as hands-on experience building collaboratively.
