If you&#8217;d like to learn more about the Study Group program, check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillascience.github.io\/studyGroupHandbook\/\">Study Group Handbook<\/a>, and if you&#8217;d like to start your own Study Group, <a href=\"mailto:sciencelab@mozillafoundation.org\">email the Science Lab<\/a> and we&#8217;ll help you get started!<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Welcome New Study Groups<\/h2>\n<p>Welcome to our newest Study Groups in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/OtagoStudyGroup\/studyGroup\" target=\"_blank\">Otago, New Zealand<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/anelda.github.io\/GenomicsHackyHour\/\">North West University, South Africa<\/a>! More Study Groups are spooling up around the world; we&#8217;ll note them here and add them to the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mozillascience\/studyGroupLessons\/blob\/master\/whereWeAre.geojson\">Study Group Map<\/a> as their first events come on line.<\/p>\n<h2>September Participation Drive<\/h2>\n<p>For many of us, a new term is starting in the next few days &#8211; that makes this one of the most important times of the year to get the word out about your Study Group!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organizers, if you haven&#8217;t seen it yet, check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillascience.github.io\/studyGroupHandbook\/running.html#planning\">Planning Events<\/a> section of the Handbook for advice on how to make this term smooth and successful for your group; also, there are <strong>two new email templates<\/strong> for doing your beginning of semester email push: one to <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mozillascience\/studyGroupHandbook\/blob\/gh-pages\/templates\/startOfTermLetter1.md\">get the word out<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mozillascience\/studyGroupHandbook\/blob\/gh-pages\/templates\/startOfTermLetter2.md\">a follow-up asking for instructors<\/a>. Feel free to use these as is, or remix and write your own.<\/li>\n<li>Attendees, one of the best things you can do to help your organizers is bring your friends and colleagues! Everyone has a better time when they know someone in the room, and bringing new people helps get the word out, too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Organizer&#8217;s Mailing List<\/h2>\n<p>The Mozilla Science Lab has a new mailing list for leaders and organizers of Study Groups around the world to ask each other questions, share ideas and talk about their plans for Study Group. <a href=\"https:\/\/mail.mozilla.org\/listinfo\/msl-study-groups\">Sign up here<\/a> if you want to be involved in leading a local Study Group &#8211; also, we&#8217;ll be using that list to organize and announce monthly teleconferences for Study Group leaders to connect worldwide.<\/p>\n<h2>New Lesson Highlights<\/h2>\n<p>Here are the notes from just a few of the awesome lessons that have been delivered around the world in August.
