It’s a big week for the Science Lab – with the team in Toronto to workshop new curriculum<\/a> with the community, as well as welcome a new member to the team.<\/p>\n

We’re thrilled to welcome Stephanie Wright (@shefw<\/a>) as our first Open Data Training Lead, where she’ll be working with the team to develop a learning program to help us advance open data within institutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stephanie has been a colleague and a friend of the Science Lab since it’s inception, coming to us from the University of Washington’s eScience Institute<\/a> (part of the Sloan<\/a>\/Moore<\/a>-funded Data Science Environment program<\/a>). She found her passion for data and its complexities as a librarian there where\u00a0she most recently held the position of Data Services Coordinator.<\/p>\n

She was responsible for developing and implementing the Research Data Services program to support the research data management needs of faculty and students. Last year she was named a Senior Data Science Fellow in the UW’s eScience Institute<\/a> where her focus has been to promote collaboration on data management services, resource development, and education by building relationships between the UW Libraries and research data-related entities both on and off-campus.<\/p>\n

Prior to UW, Stephanie worked as a trainer for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation<\/a> installing computer networks in public libraries and training library staff all over the U.S. as part of the U.S. Library Program.<\/p>\n

Stephanie currently lives near Seattle where she works for her nine-year old as Cookie Mom for Girl Scouts and chauffeur for after-school activities.\u00a0 Any spare time is spent on her bicycle riding the many bike trails in the area.<\/p>\n
