We&#8217;re crossposting this recap from the <a href=\"https:\/\/learning.mozilla.org\/blog\/connecting-inspirational-leaders-for-ada-lovelace-day\">Mozilla Learning Blog<\/a>\u00a0to share details about the call and promote our upcoming book club twitter chat!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ada_Lovelace\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lovelace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> lived in the mid-1800\u2019s and was an English mathematician and writer, considered today to be the first computer programmer. A lot has changed since Ada\u2019s time, but we continue her legacy as we rally and connect leaders who want to advance the promise of the Internet for learning in a networked world. Here is a snapshot of the leaders that we brought together to share their inspiring work:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kirstiewhitaker.com\/\">Kirstie Whitaker<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/science.mozilla.org\/programs\/fellowships\/fellows\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mozilla Science Lab 2016 Fellow<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, is the lead on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/science.mozilla.org\/projects\/KirstieJane-STEMMRoleModels\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">STEMM Role Models<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> project. Currently, women and other underrepresented groups are less likely to be invited to speak at conferences. The goal of this project is to ensure that conference organisers are able to access a diverse and representative group of the most exciting researchers in their field from around the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/zannahbot.com\/\">Zannah Marsh<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Curriculum Strategist with the Mozilla Science Lab, hosted an Ada Lovelace Day <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mozillascience\/curriculum-design-workshop\/blob\/master\/instructions\/workshop-plan.md\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">curriculum design workshop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/librelearnlab.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Libre Learn Lab<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The goal of the workshop was to work collaboratively to quickly conceptualize and design engaging, varied, user-centered learning experiences for an inclusive audience of learners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/srushtika.github.io\/\">Srushtika Neelakantam<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/la-mia-squadra.blogspot.in\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mozilla Club Captain<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Bangalore, India, teaches the web to her community in Bangalore, India by focusing on web literacy, an open web, and digital equity to make the web a better place for all, but especially for women.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/meghankmurphy\">Meghan Murphy<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, American Association for the Advanced of Science (AAAS) Science &amp; Technology Policy Fellow at National Science Foundation, works to support national initiatives such as:<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/csforall\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CSforAll,<\/span> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a collaborative project to ensure Computer Science education is available to all students across the U.S. And\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/cise\/scc\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Smart Cities<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, an effort to improve U.S. city and community functioning and quality of life within through innovations in computing, engineering, information and physical sciences, social and learning sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">*\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/@mrs_kapp\">Cristol Kapp<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, School Librarian, provides students with access to resources for making, tinkering and experimenting while giving them the freedom to choose what they wish to explore. Specifically, she has founded I\/O, a program to provide multi-handicap classes with access to these makerspace tools and resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Watch the recording of the call below to dive in deeper.
