This week, we’re hosting an AWESOME community call on ethics and mathematics, and we want you there! For background, the Science Lab community call<\/a> takes place every other\u00a0month, highlighting recent developments and work of the community relevant to science and the web. Join us to hear more about current projects, find out how you can get involved, and listen to others (or yourself!) discuss work in and around open research.<\/p>\n

Our upcoming\u00a0community call<\/a>\u00a0is this\u00a0Thursday, December\u00a015th<\/strong>. The call is open to the public and will start at 11:00 am ET<\/strong>. Call in details can be found on the call etherpad<\/a> (where you can also find notes and the agenda) and on the wiki<\/a>. (If you have trouble with the toll-free number, try one of the numbers at the bottom of this post.)<\/p>\n

This month, we’ll be talking about the ethics,\u00a0featuring people\u00a0who build scientific research and projects rooted in data and research integrity. We’ll hear from a Data&Society fellow on the ethics of algorithms<\/a>, an Eyebeam fellow on the human factors missing from datasets<\/a>, academics\u00a0involved in holding algorithms accountable<\/a>\u00a0and fair<\/a> in research, and scientists trying to maintain codes of conduct throughout institutions. We’ll also hear our closing updates from our 2015 Mozilla Fellows for Science<\/a>!\u00a0Should be a great call!<\/p>\n

Have an update, blog post or event you’d like to share relevant to open science? Add it to the etherpad<\/a> (see ‘Non Verbal Updates’). It’s a great way to share what you’re working on and\/or interested in with the community. Don’t be shy. Have a look at last month’s notes<\/a> for an idea of what others contributed to the conversation.<\/p>\n
