In addition to the merges, we had 42 commits made by Sarah Supp, uiuc-cse, Daniel Chen, David Rio, Stephen Turner, Diego Barneche, Philipp Bayer, Erik Bray, Raniere Silva, and Greg Wilson.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"othernews\">Other news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Our <a href=\"http:\/\/software-carpentry.org\/blog\/2014\/03\/announcing-april-2014-lab-meeting.html\">next Software Carpentry Lab Meeting will be on April 24th<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Last week on our Software Carpentry Lab Meeting, we discussed how to build a minimal presence on the web. Figure out which steps you should take, with samples of personal websites and CV\u2019s, in <a href=\"http:\/\/software-carpentry.org\/blog\/2014\/03\/creating-an-online-presence.html\">these notes posted in our blog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/software-carpentry.org\/blog\/2014\/03\/updating-checklists.html\">Our checklists have been updated<\/a>. Remember to check them out before help in, teach, or plan a bootcamp.<\/li>\n<li>Should Software Carpentry include lessons on MATLAB? This <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/swcarpentry\/bc\/pull\/399\">discussion thread<\/a> on GitHub has lots of opinions pro and con; please add yours.<\/li>\n<li>David Rio built <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/drio\/rollswiththis\">his own version<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/usesthis.com\">usesthis.com<\/a> to learn which tools you are using to get your science done. Read <a href=\"http:\/\/software-carpentry.org\/blog\/2014\/03\/what-do-you-use-to-get-your-job-done.html\">his blog post<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Greg Wilson blogged about <a href=\"http:\/\/software-carpentry.org\/blog\/2014\/03\/one-of-our-inspirations.html\">one of the books that inspired Software Carpentry<\/a>. The book included a floppy disk with programs: it\u2019s interesting how different is the shelf life of hardware and software.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/nbdiff.org\/\">NBdiff<\/a> is tool for diffing and merging iPython notebooks created by students at Concordia University in Canada. See the <a href=\"http:\/\/software-carpentry.org\/blog\/2014\/03\/announcing-nbdiff.html\">announcement in our blog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"aworkshopneedsyou\">A workshop needs you<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>US and Canada<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>If you\u2019re close to <strong>North Carolina<\/strong>, they need an instructor for a workshop at Duke University in June. A workshop in <strong>San Diego<\/strong>, California, needs instructors and helpers in May. In addition, instructors are needed for <strong>Ithaca<\/strong> in New York, <strong>the University of California at Davis<\/strong>, and <strong>the Federal Reserve<\/strong> in Washington. Helpers are needed for <strong>Toronto<\/strong> and <strong>Vancouver<\/strong> in Canada, and <strong>Atlanta<\/strong> in Georgia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Europe and Middle East<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A double workshop, first in <strong>Cyprus<\/strong> and one week later in <strong>Jordan<\/strong>, needs two instructors.
