The new Mozilla Webmaker site will launch officially on June 6. When it does, I&#8217;m thinking it could be just as good a resource for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcworld.com\/businesscenter\/article\/234814\/build_a_website_for_your_small_business_5_diy_services.html\">small business users<\/a> as it promises to be for individuals.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/openmatt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/lifehacker_sm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"lifehacker_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/openmatt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/lifehacker_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"578\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>Lifehacker<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/5912428\/mozilla-webmaker-aims-to-teach-you-to-code-and-change-you-from-web-consumer-to-creator\" target=\"_blank\">Mozilla Webmaker Aims to Teach You to Code and Change You from Web Consumer to Creator<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>While we&#8217;ve seen plenty of other ways to teach yourself to code, and even created our own series of lessons to help, this is the first collective learning initiative we&#8217;ve seen<\/strong>. You can certainly teach yourself from the privacy of your own home, but if you learn better with others you should definitely check this out.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>\u00a0GigaOm<\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ostatic.com\/blog\/meet-webmaker-mozilla-launches-summer-code-web-love-in\" target=\"_blank\">Meet Webmaker: Mozilla Launches &#8220;Summer Code&#8221; Web Love-in<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Mozilla has long been a defender of a free and open web, and now the company has launched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/webmaker\/\">Mozilla Webmaker<\/a><\/strong>, which is aimed at taking ordinary web users and giving them development chops that can help them create new types of online &#8220;experiences.&#8221;&#8230;Mozilla will be reaching out to schools, summer camps and other organizations to participate in Webmaker, and the company is talking about a more &#8220;web literate planet.&#8221; That can&#8217;t be a bad thing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/openmatt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Cnet_sm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5303\" title=\"Cnet_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/openmatt.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Cnet_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"578\" height=\"227\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0CNET<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-17938_105-57439700-1\/mozilla-pushes-for-stronger-maker-philosophy-on-web\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mozilla pushes for stronger &#8216;maker&#8217; philosophy on Web<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>While the initiative stands to raise the visibility and importance of coding among the general public from a well-known non-profit already established in the field,<strong> it also comes just as the company plans to begin unveiling massive challenges to nearly every major player on the Web today<\/strong> with its Boot to Gecko phones, Persona login system, and Mozilla Marketplace for Web apps.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>WebProNews<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.webpronews.com\/mozilla-reveals-its-webmaker-education-initiative-2012-05\" target=\"_blank\">Mozilla Reveals its \u2018Webmaker\u2019 Education Initiative<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>To kickstart the program, Mozilla is campaigning for what it calls the <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.mozilla.org\/Summer_Campaign_2012\">Summer code Party<\/a><\/strong>. Mozilla is encouraging volunteers to host free local Webmaker events and teach-ins all over the world, to help those interested learn how to code for the web.
