Today we&#8217;re extremely proud to launch the new <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/\">2012 Mozilla Festival web site<\/a> &#8212; and invite you to <a href=\"https:\/\/donate.mozilla.org\/page\/contribute\/mozfest2012-registration\">join us<\/a> <strong>November 9-11 <\/strong>in London, UK.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<strong>We want <em>everyone<\/em> to tap the full creative power of the web<\/strong>. The Mozilla Festival is a magnet for people interested in learning about &#8212; and playing with &#8212; the web&#8217;s future.&#8221; &#8212;<em>Mark Surman, Executive Director, Mozilla<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Gathering educators, youth, coders, gamers, media-makers and you<\/h3>\n<p><strong>This year&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/\">Mozilla Festival<\/a> will gather more than 800 passionate people with diverse backgrounds and skill-sets<\/strong>. The goal: push the frontiers of the open web, learn together, and make things that can change the world.<br \/>\nCoders, designers, journalists and educators will join with filmmakers, gamers, makers and youth from more than 40 different countries. Together they&#8217;ll participate in a series of <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/formats\/design-challenge\/\">design challenges<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/formats\/learning-lab\/\">learning labs<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/formats\/fireside-chat\/\">fireside chats<\/a> spread across four floors of the <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/location\/\">Ravensbourne<\/a> design and media campus in East London.<br \/>\n<strong>Unlike traditional conferences, the emphasis at the Mozilla Festival is on hands-on making and collaboration<\/strong> &#8212; rather than passive consumption or listening to other people talk. It&#8217;s &#8220;more hack, less yack.&#8221; And a big tent for <em>everyone<\/em> &#8212; including partners, local communities and you &#8212; who shares Mozilla&#8217;s vision for a more open, web literate world.<\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<strong>Technology is at the point where learners don\u2019t just use the tools, but make the tools<\/strong>. Seeding a global movement to spread digital literacy and empower a new generation of digital creators.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/themes\/coding-for-kids\/\">Coding for Kids<\/a><\/strong>. Including an entire floor of activities for youth hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/explorecreateshare.org\/\">Hive NYC<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnyc.org\/shows\/rookies\/\">WYNC&#8217;s Radio Rookies<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalme.co.uk\/\">DigitalMe<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/appsforgood.org\/\">O2 Think Big<\/a> and more.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/themes\/hackable-games\/\">Hackable Games<\/a><\/strong>. Pushing the frontiers of the web through gaming, opening games to remix, and creating games that teach web mechanics to the world.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/themes\/physical-web\/\">Making the Web Physical<\/a><\/strong>. Interactive prototypes that explore the potential of a physical internet. Hack with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.media.mit.edu\/\">MIT Media Lab<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/productdesign.dundee.ac.uk\/\">Product Design at the University of Dundee<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/tinkercad.com\/\">TinkerCAD<\/a> and more.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/themes\/skills-and-badges\/\"><strong>Skills and Badges<\/strong><\/a>. Exploring how projects like Mozilla&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/openbadges.org\">OpenBadges<\/a> and others are rewarding achievement and unlocking the web&#8217;s full learning potential.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/themes\/journalism\/\">Source Code for Journalism<\/a>. <\/strong>Coding and <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillaopennews.org\/\">working open<\/a> for newsrooms and journalists, including news partners from the <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillaopennews.org\/\">Knight-Mozilla OpenNews<\/a> project like the BBC, the Guardian, the New York Times and <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillaopennews.org\/fellowships\/\">others<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/themes\/web-native-cinema\/\">Web-native Cinema<\/a><\/strong>. Exploring how HTML5 and new technologies like <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillapopcorn.org\">Mozilla Popcorn<\/a> are changing the way film-makers, documentarians and everyday people tell stories on the web.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/schedule\/themes\/mobile-webmaking\/\">Webmaking for Mobile<\/a><\/strong>. Coding and playing with mobile devices driven by the web.
