Here\u2019s a sneak peek at an event happening June 22 at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysci.org\/\">New York Hall of Science<\/a> (NYSCI).<br \/>\n&#8220;<strong>It&#8217;s an awesome feeling knowing that Maker Parties like this are happening on a global scale<\/strong>,&#8221; says NYSCI&#8217;s Manager of Digital Programming, <strong>Anthony Negron<\/strong>. &#8220;The atmosphere of these events are so inspiring for everyone, and teens are really responsive to this type of format.&#8221;<!--more--><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.webmaker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/New-York-Hall-of-Science-+-Maker-Party.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"New York Hall of Science + Maker Party\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.webmaker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/New-York-Hall-of-Science-+-Maker-Party.png\" width=\"360\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>What will people make and learn together?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The NYSCI pop-up party will bring together teens aged 13 to 18 for music, games, food, prizes and &#8220;Creativity Stations.&#8221;<\/strong> The menu of what&#8217;s on offer is a great example of the diversity and creativity we&#8217;ll see on display throughout Maker Party over the next three months:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Digital photography and film-making <\/strong>&#8212;<strong> <\/strong>working with NYSCI&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/explainerTUBE\">Explainer TV,<\/a> plus other members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/explorecreateshare.org\">Hive NYC Learning Network <\/a>including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reelworks.org\/rw\/\" target=\"_blank\">ReelWorks<\/a> Teen Filmaking and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newschool.edu\/parsons\/\" target=\"_blank\">Parsons New School for Design<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Laser-cutting and soldering <\/strong>&#8212; design and print your own custom-made laser cut projects. Or use a circuit board to create a digital mosquito repellent. (Yep, that&#8217;s a thing!)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beat-making and music <\/strong>&#8212;<strong> <\/strong>craft digital beats with <a href=\"http:\/\/worldup.org\/blog\/\">World Up!<\/a> There&#8217;s even a &#8220;Science Genius Rap Battle.<strong>&#8220;<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/worldup.org\/blog\/\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Game hacking &#8212; <\/strong>turn everyday objects like bananas, spoons or whatever&#8217;s lying around into video game controllers with <a href=\"http:\/\/scratch.mit.edu\/\">Scratch<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.makeymakey.com\/\">Makey Makey<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>And of course&#8230; webmaking! &#8212;<\/strong> using <a href=\"http:\/\/webmaker.org\">Mozilla Webmaker<\/a> to create your own webpage, pick up some coding skills, remix YouTube videos or create your own viral meme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<strong>I think the Maker Party campaign really sets the groundwork for launching maker-related programming<\/strong>, especially to give teens get the opportunity to be exposed to so many exciting activities and opportunities to develop their interests.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8212; NYSCI&#8217;s Anthony Negron<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/24.media.tumblr.com\/a209c9e4c9c05fdc8a6f005794b4a98c\/tumblr_mo73p0FUrh1suqj1do1_1280.gif\" width=\"448\" height=\"286\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Learn more and get involved<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Feeling inspired?<\/strong> Counting down to Saturday?
