Traveling to London for my first-ever MozFest was an exciting experience. The unknown\u2026 What was it?<\/p>\n

MozFest<\/a>\u2026 they called it!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Taxiing, yes driving, on the Toronto runway for it seemed the better of 20 minutes (no exaggeration) caused a bit of worry we would miss the next flight. So, when we finally deplaned the only thing to do was RUN through the airport… Felt a little like the McCallister\u2019s!<\/p>\n

All we could do was yell, \u201cOn your left\u201d as we raced down the moving sidewalks dodging women and children and a man on crutches.<\/p>\n
(No animals were harmed in the writing of this)<\/p>\n
Out of breath\u2026 we made it to the gate only to hear, \u201cLadies, please step to the side\u2026 sorry, your bags didn\u2019t make it so we booked you on the next plane to London.\u201d Really!!! Ok\u2026 the silver lining: We\u2019ll cheer on our World Series baseball team in the airport restaurant. Go Royals!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unpacked then off to the Mozilla Office | London Style. Meeting real Mozillians in the flesh. Gunner warmed up the crowd with a go around\u2026 Who are you? Where are you from? And\u2026 give a word to describe how you feel? Excited, Energized, and Hungry was heard more than once\u2026<\/p>\n
Pass him some chips\u2026 or crisps?…or something!<\/p>\n
Michelle detailed the days to come. Mark enlightened us. It all became clear. MozFest<\/strong><\/p>\n

There we were in the Hive Network web strung with people from across the globe. Established Hives and Emerging Communities joined forces from Africa, India, Canada, NYC and even Chattanooga, to name a few! We were there to build!<\/p>\n

Great mix of minds, ideas, culture, and hard work. Everyone came together for one reason\u2026 Make Hive Strong!<\/p>\n
Science Fair:<\/strong><\/h2>\n
Hive KC brought Andrea Ellis from the Kansas City Library\u2019s Digital Media Lab to showcase her Gigabit Community Fund project: Minecraft with Oculus Rift.<\/p>\n
Thank goodness she made it through security!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
It was a showstopper!! People were lined up to take turns. Watching someone use the Oculus was a treat in itself. All smiles, and \u201cWow, that was cool\u201d, \u201cI wish I had one at home\u201d, \u201cMy kids would love this\u201d, \u201cWhoa, I\u2019m dizzy\u201d, were common reactions after using it.<\/p>\n
