{"id":275,"date":"2008-12-10T18:34:16","date_gmt":"2008-12-11T01:34:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/?p=275"},"modified":"2019-09-18T12:07:09","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T19:07:09","slug":"showcasing-impact-mozilla-finalists-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/2008\/12\/10\/showcasing-impact-mozilla-finalists-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Showcasing Impact Mozilla Finalists, Part II"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For reference, please check out <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/2008\/12\/10\/showcasing-impact-mozilla-finalists-part-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Part I of this series<\/a>.\u00a0 Here in Part II, we&#8217;ll look at the following two finalists of Impact Mozilla \u2013 \u201cMy Firefox\u201d and \u201cCustomization Campaign\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My Firefox<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-276\" title=\"myfirefox\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/files\/2008\/12\/myfirefox.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"313\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/docs.google.com\/Doc?id=ddv6dm5b_11f65437hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cMy Firefox\u201d<\/a> attempts to get new Firefox users immediately addicted by altering\/customizing the download experience.\u00a0 The plans sums it up by stating, \u201cThe download page should therefore be laid out in such a way that it would be impossible for the user to get away with a straight download without having him wondering whether he\u2019s really doing the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To accomplish this, the Firefox download process would be modified to walk a new user through the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Specifying the target O.S.<\/li>\n<li>Customizing the look<\/li>\n<li>Selecting the scenarios<\/li>\n<li>Configuring the browser<\/li>\n<li>Managing the bookmarks<\/li>\n<li>Register (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Preparing and downloading the installer<\/li>\n<li>Done!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Customization Campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-277\" title=\"customizcampaign\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/files\/2008\/12\/customizcampaign.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"346\" height=\"259\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.google.com\/Doc?id=dftvp8jf_88cbv49xhf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cCustomization Campaign\u201d<\/a> is unique in that it heavily engages the SpreadFirefox community.\u00a0 The plan aims to increase Firefox loyalty via customization, and more specifically, through increased adoption of add-ons.\u00a0 Such an effort would be accomplished by a marketing campaign on the default Firefox start page.<\/p>\n<p>Targeting would be driven by viral campaigns and community activism, all of which would be supported by new tools on the SpreadFirefox site.\u00a0 Furthermore, the plan outlines strategies for strengthening Mozilla&#8217;s marketing community at SpreadFirefox by resolving remaining site structure challenges and by presenting consistent messages of goals and incentives to members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For reference, please check out Part I of this series.\u00a0 Here in Part II, we&#8217;ll look at the following two finalists of Impact Mozilla \u2013 \u201cMy Firefox\u201d and \u201cCustomization Campaign\u201d.
