{"id":454,"date":"2009-03-04T17:21:36","date_gmt":"2009-03-05T00:21:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/?p=454"},"modified":"2019-09-18T12:07:07","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T19:07:07","slug":"more-improvements-coming-to-firefox-web-sites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/2009\/03\/04\/more-improvements-coming-to-firefox-web-sites\/","title":{"rendered":"More Improvements Coming to Firefox Web Sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last fall we initiated the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/2008\/12\/04\/the-download-button-drives-downloads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first ever multivariate optimization testing<\/a> at www.mozilla.com.\u00a0 At the time, we drew the following conclusion from one of our tests:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>How does this change our business\/creative decision making?<\/p>\n<p>As some of us already guessed, it appears that it&#8217;s the download button itself that matters most here.\u00a0 Thinking about the size, shape, color, and placement (among other characteristics), our findings indicate that future testing could reveal surprising \u2013 and positive findings \u2013 based on changes to the download button.\u00a0 In other words, it wouldn&#8217;t be a stretch to imagine that future tests, that adjust such characteristics of the download button, could easily translate to a 2% lift (or much greater), and in turn, a substantially improved experience for millions of new Firefox users each year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We have plans in place to eventually roll-out those types of tests with regular frequency later this year (stay tuned), and in the short term, we&#8217;re planning a few strategic optimization efforts at a few critical Firefox related touch points \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/support.mozilla.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">support.mozilla.com<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/en-US\/firefox\/all.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Get Firefox in your language<\/a>, and the main <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/en-US\/products\/firefox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Firefox product page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.giantspatula.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Rolnitzky<\/a> just <a href=\"http:\/\/www.giantspatula.com\/?p=203\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">highlighted our plans<\/a> regarding that last touch point.\u00a0 Among the changes being tested:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If an existing Firefox user is trying to figure out how to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, the process should be clearer.<\/li>\n<li>If a user is on IE, he\/she will see content more relevant to their thoughts and potential interest in downloading Firefox (below).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-455 aligncenter\" title=\"ie_version_of_fx_product_page\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/files\/2009\/03\/ie_version_of_fx_product_page.jpg\" alt=\"ie_version_of_fx_product_page\" width=\"449\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/files\/2009\/03\/ie_version_of_fx_product_page.jpg 449w, https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/metrics\/files\/2009\/03\/ie_version_of_fx_product_page-269x300.jpg 269w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is only a test, so while these new page versions seem as though they&#8217;ll have a positive impact on users, we&#8217;re not necessarily rooting for them to exhibit greater success than our existing page (the &#8220;winner&#8221; is determined by the actions\/preferences of site visitors).\u00a0 Stay tuned for our findings in a future post.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last fall we initiated the first ever multivariate optimization testing at www.mozilla.com.\u00a0 At the time, we drew the following conclusion from one of our tests: How does this change our business\/creative decision making?
