The online tool, developed as part of Mozilla&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/webmaker.org\">Webmaker<\/a> program, makes it easy for anyone to add live content to any video \u2014 photos, maps, social media feeds and more.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/641aB1Dv1DY?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Video beyond the box<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Video arrived on the web in a small box, separated from the incredible data and content all around it<\/strong>,&#8221; says Merkley. &#8220;<strong>Popcorn changes all of that<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Videos created with Popcorn behave like the rest of the web \u2014 dynamic, full of links, completely remixable, and finally able to break beyond the box.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/blog\/2012\/10\/19\/ted_popcorn\/ted-talk-popcorn-maker-screen-grab\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4993\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"TED Talk Popcorn Maker screen grab\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/files\/2012\/10\/TED-Talk-Popcorn-Maker-screen-grab-600x399.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"359\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Popcorn + TED Talks in action<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Mozilla is also experimenting with TED Talks in other ways<\/strong>. Today the Popcorn team released <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ted.com\/2012\/10\/19\/meet-popcorn-maker-beau-lotto\/\">this remix of a TED Talk from Dr. Beau Lotto<\/a>, adding a clickable layer of information that anyone can add to, edit or remix.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Working with content from TED was a great way to test the new Popcorn Maker app we&#8217;ve been working on over the past year<\/strong>,&#8221; says <a href=\"www.etherworks.ca\">Brett Gaylor<\/a>, Director of the Popcorn Project at Mozilla. &#8220;We used it to add add links, Wikipedia articles, images and maps directly to the video, weaving opportunities to learn more and go deeper right into the talk.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;At TED, we\u2019re excited by the potential of Popcorn Maker to create an ecosystem of deeper, richer information around TED Talks<\/strong> \u2014 from our editorial team, from speakers, and from you, our audience.&#8221; &#8212;<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ted.com\/2012\/10\/19\/meet-popcorn-maker-beau-lotto\/\">TED.com<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><strong>Launching Popcorn Maker 1.0 at the Mozilla Festival<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>In November, Mozilla will launch Popcorn Maker 1.0 at the <a href=\"http:\/\/mozillafestival.org\/\">Mozilla Festival<\/a> in London, UK<\/strong>. In the mean time, we&#8217;re making <a href=\"https:\/\/popcorn.webmaker.org\/templates\/basic\/?savedDataUrl=ted.json\">this new beta version<\/a> available for testing to coincide with today&#8217;s TED talk launch.
