Firefox: It’s (Even) Better Now

Life comes at you fast when you live on the web. Just a few weeks back we told you about Project Uptime and multi-process browsing: two improvements that make browsing in Firefox smoother, more reliable and less crash-prone than ever. We also launched a few lil’ video promos to spread the word. (Scroll down for the two newest ones.)

Since then, we’ve kept busy and issued the largest change to Firefox code yet. It’s called ‘Electrolysis ’ (or E10s), and we think it nails the sweet spot between memory and performance. But don’t take our word for it, here’s a sample of the nice things internet folks are saying:

“[Firefox 54] includes the next major phase of multi-process support, which streamlines memory use, improving responsiveness and speed.”
Venturebeat

“Firefox 54 consumes less memory than Chrome for the same set of tabs.”
Ars Technica

“Your choice of web browser might be more significant than you realize… and using Firefox may align better with your principles.”
The Awl

“With rising privacy concerns, people are quick in making a switch to the browser which provides them with the best cover—Firefox seems to take the cake here.”
Guiding Tech

This is, by far, the fastest and most reliable release of Firefox I’ve ever used. In fact, it’s faster than Chrome—an impressive feat.
TechRepublic

And we’re just getting started. If you’ve been shy about switching browsers, now’s the time to really think about the kind of internet you wanna support. Stay indie or surrender control? Pick a side or stand by until something happens to you–and your data? For now, you still have a choice.

As for us, we’re sticking by our indie, anti-corporate roots and we’re browsing for good. Join us.
