As we all know the amazing SUMO developers team is having a hard time keeping up with the huge Bugzilla backlog. This makes it difficult for everybody as new bugs are coming in and old bugs are being left open forever.<\/p>\n<p>In order to help out with this process and try to speed up the implementation of some bugs we are organizing a Bug Triaging Day this Wednesday, March 18th 2015. We&#8217;re going to concentrate on closing the outdated bugs, mark duplicates and also prioritize the valid existing bugs. This is a pilot so we&#8217;re going to focus only on support forum bugs (the ones filed in the &#8220;Questions&#8221; and &#8220;Forum&#8221; components in Bugzilla)<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/sumo\/files\/2015\/01\/bugzilla.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3437\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/sumo\/files\/2015\/01\/bugzilla.png\" alt=\"bugzilla\" width=\"180\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>How will this work?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, March 18th at 10am UTC we&#8217;re going to start triaging the bugs listed on <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/mozilla.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/150-3bswPF_wLyI-XTSlgZSP3Yd9oqLyqq9g6IIctnwA\/edit#gid=0\">this spreadsheet<\/a>. The process is explained below. At this is a 24 hour event you can join in any time and, just open the spreadsheet and start triaging!<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can I help?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s easy!! You don&#8217;t have to be a super tech person to do it,\u00a0 just follow the process below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">Open: <\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt url\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/mozilla.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/150-3bswPF_wLyI-XTSlgZSP3Yd9oqLyqq9g6IIctnwA\/edit#gid=0\">https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/mozilla.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/150-3bswPF_wLyI-XTSlgZSP3Yd9oqLyqq9g6IIctnwA\/edit#gid=0<\/a><\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">. This has all the bugs listed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"magicdomid20\" class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"list-bullet1\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">Join #sumo and say hello. We will be there chatting and having tones of fun!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid21\" class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"list-bullet1\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">Filter spreadsheet to see oldest bugs first and start from the top. We want to deal with the oldest bugs first to get them out of the way.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid22\" class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"list-bullet1\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">Find a bug you want to work on and put your name in the &#8220;ASSIGNED&#8221; column so people know you are working on it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid23\" class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"list-bullet1\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">Use this link to go to your bug (just add the bug ID at the end): <\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt url\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=\">https:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid24\" class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"list-bullet1\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">When you finish working on the bug always\u00a0 remember to update the &#8220;TRIAGE STATUS&#8221; in the spreadsheet to let people know you&#8217;re. You can select the options\u00a0 from the dropdown:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"list-bullet1\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">If\u00a0 the bug is a duplicate please mark it as such in Bugzilla and enter\u00a0 &#8220;<\/span><strong><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt b\">Duplicate<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">&#8221; in the triage status column in the spreadsheet.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"list-bullet1\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">If the bug is outdated please close it and enter &#8220;<\/span><strong><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt b\">Outdated<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">&#8221; in the triage status in Bugzilla.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"magicdomid24\" class=\"\">\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">If none of the above t<\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">ry to reproduce the issue. <\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt b\"><b>THIS IS THE MOST\u00a0 IMPORTANT PART. <\/b><\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">We need to make sure the issue is reproducible otherwise\u00a0 the bug is invalid.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid29\" class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"list-bullet3\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">If you <\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt b\"><b>can<\/b><\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\"> reproduce the issue please mark in the spreadsheet as <\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt b\"><b>&#8220;issue still valid<\/b><\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">&#8220;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid30\" class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"list-bullet3\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">If you <\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt b\"><b>cannot reproduce<\/b><\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">\u00a0 the issue please comment on the bug &#8220;I cannot re<\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">produce this, is this\u00a0 still an issue?&#8221; and move to the next bug.\u00a0 Please mark as &#8220;<\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt b\"><b>Cannot\u00a0 reproduce<\/b><\/span><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">&#8221; in the spreadsheet.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you want another option just choose &#8220;<strong>Other<\/strong>&#8221; and leave a comment in the commnets column.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid31\" class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"list-bullet2\">\n<li><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">If\u00a0 you find a bug that already has champion approval (i.e. Madalina\u00a0 commented in the bug something like &#8220;we should do this&#8221;) please mark it\u00a0 in the spreadsheet with a &#8220;<strong>YES<\/strong>&#8221; under &#8220;<strong>Champion Approval&#8221;<\/strong>. In this way\u00a0 I will be able to prioritize it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That&#8217;s it! Remember: open spreadsheet, pick up bug, try to reproduce issue, update triage status, move to the next bug! Easy, no?<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"author-g-i3uksdag9a3tuaxt\">I will be online as champion from 10 AM\u00a0 to 6 PM UTC (7PM CET, 11AM PDT). I will work on triaging as well as prioritizing the bugs in\u00a0 the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/mozilla.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1BGULIZZxFv54EcVoBo1IGPzsjlOsuUB-0CnaU_oJjjQ\/edit#gid=1910998182\">champion&#8217;s spreadsheet<\/a>.
