{"id":3935,"date":"2018-09-28T22:22:44","date_gmt":"2018-09-28T20:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/sumo\/?p=3935"},"modified":"2018-09-28T20:35:01","modified_gmt":"2018-09-28T18:35:01","slug":"support-localization-top-50-sprint-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/sumo\/2018\/09\/28\/support-localization-top-50-sprint-and-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Support Localization \u2013 Top 50 Sprint and More"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Hello, current and future Mozillians!<\/h2>\n<p>I hope you can still remember that last month we kicked off a &#8220;Top 20 Sprint&#8221; for several locales available on the Support site. <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/sumo\/2018\/08\/24\/support-localization-top-20-sprint-and-more\/\">You can read more about the reasons behind it here and the way it had been going here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the goal has been extended to include a wider batch of articles that quality into the &#8220;Top 50&#8221; &#8211; that is, the 50 most popular Knowledge Base articles globally. You can see their list on this dashboard: https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/contributors\/kb-overview<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to share with you the progress our community has made over the last weeks and call out those who have contributed towards Mozilla&#8217;s broader linguistic coverage of support content, making all the possible versions of Firefox easier to use for millions of international users.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/ar\/localization\">Arabic<\/a><\/h4>\n<div>After the impressive 1st milestone rush by <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/ar\/user\/1486134\">Ahmad<\/a>, the torch has been picked up by <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/ar\/user\/1543954\">FFus3r<\/a>, who has been working for the last few weeks on adding new and updated versions of Knowledge Base articles through the Arabic dashboard. <span id=\"result_box\" class=\"short_text\" lang=\"ar\" tabindex=\"-1\">\u0634\u0643\u0631\u0627 \u0644\u0643\u0645<\/span>!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/bn-BD\/localization\">Bengali<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Another case of passing the work on successfully, this time for Bengali localizers. We&#8217;ve had Nazir working hard on the Top 20 articles at first in August, and now we have<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1196041\"> S M Sarwar Nobin<\/a>\u00a0leading the charge in September. I also hear there&#8217;s an event for the Bengali community happening soon, so stay tuned for more details from that side of the world :)<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/bs\/localization\">Bosnian<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Bosnian localizers have been quiet for a while now, so I hope we can hear from <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/bs\/user\/1455192\">kicin<\/a> again soon, as there is still time to add more content in that locale to our Knowledge Base.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/gu-IN\/localization\">Gujarati<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Similarly to Bosnian, there&#8217;s not a lot of action taking place in the Gujarati part of the Knowledge Base, but hopefully we can see the localizers rally once more to reach the Top 50 goal soon.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/hi-IN\/localization\">Hindi<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Hindi localizers have continued to contribute to the Knowledge Base, but with slightly diminished contributions, there&#8217;s still space for more contributions! If you know Hindi and want to join forces with <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1110263\"> Mahtab <\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1136691\"> Ritesh Raj<\/a>, now is the time!<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/ta\/localization\">Tamil<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>It seems that the Tamil side of the Knowledge Base will have to wait for better days and more contributors with energy and time to spare. Here&#8217;s to hoping we can see that happen soon!<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/te\/localization\">Telugu<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>To finish off the sprint part for the &#8220;magnificent 7&#8221; locales that responded postively to my summer call to action on a high note, I am happy to report that<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1489562\"> \u0c1a\u0c3f\u0c32\u0c3e\u0c2c\u0c41<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1106433\"> sandeep<\/a>, and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1155662\">\u00a0Dinesh <\/a>have continued improving the Knowledge Base with their translations and are well on the way of hitting the Top 50 articles if they keep up. <span id=\"result_box\" class=\"short_text\" lang=\"te\" tabindex=\"-1\">\u0c27\u0c28\u0c4d\u0c2f\u0c35\u0c3e\u0c26\u0c3e\u0c32\u0c41<\/span>!<\/p>\n<p>More news from all localizers of the above locales soon&#8230; While we wrap up September and move into October.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, many other contributors have kept their parts of the Knowledge Base busy and updated&#8230; I would like to call out a few of them and thank them on behalf of the millions of users benefiting from their shared enthusiasm and knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>The Czech team of <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/372675\"> soucet<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/563631\">Michal Stanke<\/a>\u00a0keep churning out update after update. Same goes for the Danish tag team of <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/493575\"> Joergen <\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/955666\"> Kim Ludvigsen.<\/a> The unstoppable<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1064390\"> Artist <\/a>makes most of the German Knowledge Base possible, together with<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1064715\"> graba.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Greek Firefox users have a lot to thank<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1116205\"> Jim Spentzos <\/a>for, while those who prefer to use Spanish while browsing our site can enjoy high quality content coming from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/757868\">\u00c1ngela Velo (with us since 2012!).<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/861881\"> Jarmo <\/a>is still looking for more people to help out with Finnish, but that does not stop him from contributing additional translations. The French language is proudly (and efficiently) supported by<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/656694\"> Mozinet<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1351535\">C\u00e9cile<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1402043\"> YD<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1062353\">J2m06<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/23369\">Goofy <\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1543296\">Olpouin <\/a>(a recent addition to the mix there &#8211; hello!).<\/p>\n<p>Hungarian localizers<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/891609\"> Mesk\u00f3 Bal\u00e1zs <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1344\">K\u00e9m\u00e9nczy K\u00e1lm\u00e1n <\/a>slowly but steadily enable and improve the Knowledge Base for users over the blue Danube, while<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/968\">\u00a0 Underpass <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/15265\">Michele Rodaro <\/a>do the same for users on both shored of Tiber (and way beyond).<\/p>\n<p>Over in Japan, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/562281\"> dskmori<\/a> (also active in Korean!), <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1467790\">kenyama<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/99231\">\u00a0hamasaki<\/a>, and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/191\">\u00a0marsf\u00a0<\/a>provide great content for users who seem to (on average) spend the most time on each page they visit. <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1332500\">Georgianizator<\/a>\u00a0is slowly working through the (obviously) Georgian (also known as <em>Kartuli<\/em>) Knowledge Base. For Korea,<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/409783\"> Narae Kim<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1379728\"> seulgi <\/a>work together with dskmori on more updates.<\/p>\n<div class=\"creator\"><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/10779\"> Tonnes <\/a>(another localization MozGiant, active in the Knowledge Base &#8211; and not only &#8211; since 2010!) makes Dutch happen, while for Polish we have<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/315978\"> TyDraniu<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/10940\">Teo<\/a>. MozBrazilians continue supporting their huge userbase through the work of<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1232235\">Jhonatas Rodrigues<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1230330\">Marcelo Ghelman<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1549047\">leorockbar<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1549520\">wikena (another new name, hello!).<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"creator\">Their tireless Portuguese counterparts on the other side of the ocean are<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1272695\"> Alberto Castro<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1282172\">, ManSil <\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/972\"> Cl\u00e1udio Esperan\u00e7a,\u00a0<\/a>while over on the other side of Europe, the Russian trio of <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1231953\">Valery Ledovskoy<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1024085\"> Anticisco Freeman<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/943585\"> Harry <\/a>is echoing the hard work of other localizers in the Cyrillic script.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"creator\"><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/736549\">kusavica <\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/995009\"> marcel11<\/a> keep clarifying Firefox in their own words for Slovak users, just like <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/941293\">Lan<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1370700\">Rok\u00a0<\/a>do for Slovenians. The Turkish language is represented and supported by<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1080651\"> Burhan Kele\u015f<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1543265\">SUNR<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1387268\">OmTi,\u00a0<\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/197068\"> Selim \u015eumlu.<\/a><\/div>\n<div>To wrap the long list of contributors up, we have <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/928706\">Bor,\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1539894\">ChenYJ<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1338903\"> wxie<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1525166\">Yang Hanlin <\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/user\/1529441\"> xiaolu <\/a>contributing for the benefit of all our Chinese users.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Each one of the people listed above helps countless others through their contributions to the open and helpful web that Mozilla is a part of.
