July 2013 Featured Add-ons

Has half of 2013 already passed us by? It must have, because it’s time for July featured add-ons! Featured add-ons are selected by a community board, but anyone can nominate add-ons for the board’s consideration, so don’t be shy. Simply email amo-featured@mozilla.org with your suggestion (you’re welcome to submit your own for consideration). This month, two out of the five add-ons featured are community nominations.

Also, this is the first month that we’re featuring a complete theme! Going forward, these will be featured once a quarter.

Pick of the Month: Reload Plus

Supercharge your reload button and hotkeys! Reload Plus makes the following (user-configurable) changes to the behavior of Firefox’s “Reload” button:

Shift+LMouse (or Shift+F5) = Google Cache

Middle Mouse = Standard Reload (new tab)
Ctrl+MMouse = Override Cache (new tab)
Alt+MMouse = Reload All Tabs
Shift+MMouse = Google Cache (new tab)

Thank you so much for a great addon!”

Noia 4—the successor of Noia 2 eXtreme—offers many skin types, easy themes usage, and many settings inside the Noia 4 Theme Manager.

Noia4 looks very nice and saves a lot of desktop space compared to most. My favourite.”

This topic is crap. I remember reading that featured add-ons of the month are going to be displayed on page 1 on the Mozilla add-ons website. Ok so you’ve picked the Noia theme but how many people see that it is featured? How many people see this page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/complete-themes/?sort=featured ? 2000 per month maybe?
I love custom themes but the thing Mozilla is doing with them is horrible. How many developers have stopped working on their themes? A lot. Why? Because themes are not as popular as they used to be. Ever since you merged personas with custom themes the number of theme users has dropped by 50% and the number of downloads well…. My most popular theme had 30000 weekly, since the change it has less than 30000 monthly. Worst thing is that nobody hears our complains on the forums.

I think Noia is a great theme (using it as we speak), and tend to agree with blah – not enough people are getting to see the newest featured add-ons.
