Your Next Steps as a Firefox Student Ambassador

Greetings Ambassadors,

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been overwhelmed (and thrilled!) by your enthusiasm to take the next steps as Student Ambassadors by working towards your Open Badge, Certificate of Identification, vouching on Mozillians.org, and recommendation to the ReMo Program.

We’re happy to say that as of this week, over 150 Ambassadors have reached the second level of the program and obtained their Certificates of Identification – congratulations!

For those of you who are just getting started, please find your directions on how to apply for Level 1 of the program here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/StudentAmbassadors/Recognition#Level_1

=What’s Next=

Moving forward into February, we’ll continue advancing to a new level each month (up to level three). This means that all of those who received their Certificates of Identification in January will be given the opportunity to be vouched on mozillians.org in February (and all of those who received their Open Badge in January will be given the opportunity to receive a Certificate of Identification in February).

Continue the great work!

=What’s Changed=

In evaluating our process, we’ve also realized that applying for the Mozilla Reps program may not be the right step for all of our Ambassadors who have reached Level 3 (vouching on Mozillians.org).

While Reps is a great program for certain members of the community, it is recommended to gain knowledge in one of the various project areas like others may instead want to get more involved in Support, Webmaker, Localization, or Community Building. There are many ways to gain experience by contributing outside of the Reps program in which you can make an impact at Mozilla!

= After reaching Level 3=

Therefore, moving forward, we’ll be presenting a range of contribution paths you (Ambassadors) can choose in your participation in the Mozilla community after you reach Level 3. For those of you who are interested in contributing at a more active level, we will connect you with a Rep Adviser (to be named in February) in the region and do our best to guide you on your next steps to get further involved as a active member of the Mozilla community! For those of you who are still interested in the Reps Program, we will be connecting you with the Rep Adviser (to be named in February) in the region to we will put together information to learn more about Rep Activities and what is required of a Rep to be a solid applicant to the program.

Finally, as a reminder, kindly please do not apply for the Mozilla Reps Program before advised by your Rep Adviser (as we want to make sure if the Mozilla Reps program is right for youyou are the most qualified applicant possible before applying) and please remember that entry in the Reps program is not guaranteed at any stage of your progression through the FSA program.

If you have any additional questions, please check out our newly revised wiki page: https://wiki.mozilla.org/StudentAmbassadors/Recognition
Thanks!
