MozPDX opens in the Pearl

August 26th, 2013 | Category: Mozilla Spaces,News and Events

IMG_6998Our newest MozSpace opened on July 22 in Portland. The city’s 27 employees now have a roomy space to call their own.

Built in the lovingly restored Brewery Block building in the Pearl District, this MozSpace, like our others, is centrally located  and easy to get to by transit or bike.  Iconic Powell’s City of Books is located one block away, as well as dozens of restaurants, retail stores and breweries within a short walk.  The office is an easy 5 minute stroll to a massive cluster of food trucks. Suffice it to say that lunch and happy hour options will not be a problem for Portlandians.

The Portland space has 39 workstations and 9 conference rooms as well as a large community area for events and workweeks. It also boasts a groovy bike shed area, shower and plenty of storage space.IMG_7018

WPR’s newest team member, Samantha Verbeck, is keeping Portlanders content with a plethora of healthy snacks and drinks. And of course there is the the classic Mozilla coffee bar with beans hand delivered by active Mozilla contributor and owner of BrewPony coffee, Jonathan “Duke” Leto.

Mozilla has deep roots in Portland’s leading open source community.  We are excited to double down in the heart of the fastest growing technology community of startups on the west coast.   There’s an amazing energy happening here in this intersection of technology, mobile, startups, and open source.  Come visit us whenever you are in the area.

Traveling with your Mozilla Badge

August 26th, 2013 | Category: Tips,Travel

Did you know that your Mozilla badge will give you access to all of our MozSpaces in North America and Europe? Our ultimate goal is for “one badge to rule them all” and thus coordinating our badging systems across our worldwide spaces so that you can easily travel from site to site seamlessly.

Our offices each have different building access requirements (you can read about those here) but the doors to our MozSpaces will always be open to employees with your Mozilla badge.

The Bottom Line:   Please PACK YOUR MOZILLA BADGE on your next business trip. And let us know via Service Now if your badge is not functioning for a specific site and we’ll fix it as soon as soon as we can.IMG_20130808_100141

San Francisco’s First and Second floor expansion

August 26th, 2013 | Category: Mozilla Spaces,News and Events

Doors to our first and second floor spaces opened in early June after completing our biggest office move to date.20130608_180046After several iterations and feedback from over 100 employees, the San Francisco seating plan materialized. We successfully boxed up and moved 166 Mozillians as WPR and Service Desk teams worked tirelessly throughout the weekend to a flawless Monday opening.

Set in the remodeled and Mozillafied former Gordon Biersch restaurant, the two new floors are a welcoming space for employees and guests alike. Reception has been transferred to the first floor, and a new community space has opened for events, BrownBags and collaboration.
