Mozilla Webmaker at IUB

After one and a half months we’re able to successfully make our Mozilla Webmaker event at our university, the Independent University of Bangladesh. The event was organized through the joint efforts of the Department of Environmental Science, Monte Carlo Informatics Club, and IUB in association with the Firefox Student Ambassadors of IUB (#FSAIUB). The dean of the School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM) started the Webmaker event by giving his welcome address to all of our participants.

Our first speaker was Anam Ahmed, a fellow FSA, who gave an overview of Mozilla who described its mission and goals.

Afterwards, Ashikuzzaman also an FSA of #FSAIUB, introduced to our participants the Mozilla Webmaker tools like Mozilla Thimble.

Then one of the leading members of FSAIUB, Abdullah Al Noman, also talked about X-ray Goggles.

Christopher Sangma, another member of FSAIUB, moderated the whole event using his nice presentation skills.

Then I introduced our participants the Mozilla Popcorn Maker.

After our sessions introducing the Webmaker tools, we then hosted a Webmaker competition. All our delegates participated in this session .

After we announced the winners for the Webmaker competition our dean gave them Mozilla Webmaker shirts as a prize. We also gave away cool Mozilla swags to all of our participants. The Monte Carlo Informatics Club gave them certificates of appreciation.

After giving out the prizes, we provided snacks to all our participants, including the dean and all of the faculty members, of delicious cake, sweets and FOX’s candy 😀

Top 5 Videos of FSA Video Tutorials for the Month of February

Hello everyone!

Last month at the FSA Video Tutorials, we had our Ambassadors share, using Popcorn Maker, what they love about being a Firefox Student Ambassador. We received nine entries and after careful evaluation of the Student Working Group, the top five videos were determined. Congratulations to the following Firefox Student Ambassadors for their outstanding work this month!


Mohankumar Duraisamy from India loves being an FSA because:
  • It is easier to get involved if you’re a student.
  • Contributing through the FSA program earned him new friends across the globe.
  • He loves being recognized with Open Badges.
  • Through what he learned being in the program, he was able to create a Popcorn video about Lightbeam and has developed seven Firefox OS apps.
  • It provided him the platform to share what he learned.
