about:events | January 28 – February 3

about:events is a weekly round-up of upcoming events published every Saturday. Here’s what’s happening next week:

Europe

Feb 2 & 3 – Brussels, Belgium
FOSDEM is the Free and Open Source Software Developers’ European Meeting. It’s definitely the best place in Europe to meet, share ideas and communicate with over five thousand geeks from all over the world. And guess what: It’s completely free and there’s no registration necessary! So visit us at our booth or in our developer room at FOSDEM 2013.

Feb 2 – Berlin, Germany
The Firefox OS App Days were a big success – on the 26th of January, developers and designers met to get educated and inspired to work on apps and submit them to the Firefox Marketplace. But there’s one last chance for local developers to showcase their apps – in Berlin! And to conclude the evening, you’ll get pizza and beer. Join us to celebrate Firefox OS and start building apps for the Firefox Marketplace.

America

Feb 1 – San José, Costa Rica
Hundreds of entrepreneurs, designers, programmers, hackers and geeks – all in one place, without a defined agenda. That is the first Bar Camp ever organized in Costa Rica. Since it’s an “unconference”, the attendees get to informally schedule it while sharing all of their exciting ideas. Join the other technology enthusiasts at BarCamp Costa Rica to kick off the new month.

Asia

Jan 28 – Dhaka, Bangladesh
You’ve always wanted to learn about open web technologies? Well, you no longer have to wait! The GenOpen event in Dhaka will show you what you can make with the web. The first part consists of getting to know WebMaker, followed by Open Web Apps and, of course, Firefox OS.

Jan 30 – San Roque, Philippines
Do you need help with Mozilla applications on your laptop? Or do you want somebody to share information about Mozilla and Firefox OS with you? Well, then the Information and Communication Technology Society Day is just the right place for you! For a whole day, Mozillians from the Southern Leyte State University will be there for you.

Help, I can’t go to an event!

We’ll miss you, but don’t worry! There are lots of other ways to get involved and to find other Mozillians in our community who share your interests.
