What’s up with SUMO – 17th April

Hello, SUMO Nation! That week buzzed by really fast, hasn’t it? Here’s another portion of news and updates from the world of SUMO.

Guess what, more Mozillians among us!

Not on the list, even if you arrived recently? Don’t hesitate to say “hi” in the forums!

The latest SUMO Community meeting

You can find the agenda and notes here: https://etherpad.mozilla.org/sumo-2015-04-13, and the video… will be added below as soon as Madalena hacks into the admin panel of Vidyo ;-) Thank you for your patience!

Reminder: the next SUMO Community meeting…

  • …is going to take place on Monday, 20th of April. Join us!
  • As a rule, if you want to add a discussion topic to upcoming the live meeting agenda:
    • Start a thread in the Community Forums, so that everyone in the community can see what will be discussed and voice their opinion here before Monday (this will make it easier to have an efficient meeting).
    • Please do so as soon as you can before the meeting, so that people have time to read, think, and reply (and also add it to the agenda).

Help needed!

Community shout-outs

  • Ashickur and Safwan for their ongoing work on preparing the SUMO meetup in Bangladesh!

Firefox (Desktop, OS, for Android) & other news

  • Firefox: In case you somehow missed it – Mark has joined us as the Firefox Desktop lead – while I poke him for an official introductory blog post here, you can visit his private blog.
  • Firefox OS: As Ralph reports we’ve had 28 new questions in the forums for the 15th week of the year, up to April 10th. 14 of those were related to a single Marketplace issue. This is now sorted – thanks to everyone involved!
  • Firefox Android: Roland reports that Firefox 37.0.2 for Android will be released soon, to fix the request desktop site bug, as well as some other issues. You can also find the version 38 article updates here with more context in the meeting notes.
  • Firefox for iOS: …is on track for release in the first half of this year (clock’s ticking!). It is currently undergoing localization and our awesome Firefox iOS User Success Council members are figuring out the best ways to support it from day one.
  • Thunderbird: … will have a Thunderbird User Success Council, as we are eager to get the most interested among you involved directly in making version 38 a hit. We are looking for an English KB Article Editor, an L10N Coordinator and a Forum Lead. Get in touch with Roland – rtanglao AT mozilla.com or rolandtanglao in #sumo or #tb-support-crew if you want to take part in this glorious adventure in community-powered open source greatness!

I think I ran out of exclamation marks and witty remarks a while ago… So, let me rest and reset over the weekend, and we will all see you on Monday, we hope! Keep rocking the open web!
