Hi,

diese Woche startet der Browser Auswahlbildschirm und die Wahlmöglichkeit fuer einen oder mehrere Webbrowser.

Aus diesem Grund haben wir auch die „Open to Choice“ Kampagne u.a. mit der Seite opentochoice.org gestartet.

Wir würden gerne erfahren welchen Browser Du wählst und aus welchem Grund. Schreibe uns ein Kommentar hier in diesem Blog Post und erhalte eine kostenlose Tages-Eintrittskarte fuer die CeBIT 2010 (solange der Vorrat reicht – der Rechtsweg ist ausgeschlossen – die kompletten Bedingungen (in english) sind auch hier zu finden ).

This week starts the Browser Choice screen and it will give you the opportunity to choose one or more browsers !

At Mozilla we have done a lot to inform the User about their choice, from working with Microsoft to include Firefox in the Browser Choice screen to setting up http://opentochoice.org/ with the Open Letter from Mitchell Baker and John Lilly.

We would like to hear which browser(s) you chose to use and why. Post a comment to this blog post and you will receive a free day pass for CeBIT (subject to availability – and also see the rules  here)

auch dieses mal ist Mozilla auf der CeBIT in Hannover mit einem Stand vertreten.

Während der CeBIT vom 2. -6. März 2010 stehen Euch jeden Tag Mitarbeiter und Community Mitglieder fuer Fragen und Antworten rund um Mozilla zur Verfügung. Den Mozilla Stand findet Ihr in Halle 2 – F 34 im Bereich der Open Source Project Lounge.

Neben dem Stand auf der CeBIT präsentieren wir auf der CeBIT im Open Source Forum (auch Halle 2 – F 38) jeden Tag einen Vortrag rund um Mozilla:

Am Dienstag, 2.3.2010 von 13:00 Uhr  – 13:45 Uhr mit Patrick Finch vom Europäischen Mozilla Marketing den Vortrag „Why Mozilla“.

Mittwoch, 3.3.2010 von 11:30 Uhr – 12:15 Uhr mit Kev Needham, Mozilla Channel I/O mit einem Ueberblick und Ausblick auf das Projekt „Build your own Browser“ (BYOB – http://byob.mozilla.com) – u.a. wie man eigene Firefox-Versionen erzeugen und verteilen kann.

Donnerstag, 4.3.2010 von 12:30 – 13:15 Uhr mit Chris Hofmann, Mozilla Director for Special Projects. Sein Vortrag “The future of innovation in the browser – studies, experiments, prototypes, and projects going on at labs.mozilla.com” wagt einen Ausblick auf das, was künftig zum Surf-Alltag gehören wird.

Freitag, 5.3.2010 von 13:45-14:30 Uhr mit Chris Hofmann, Mozilla Director for Special Projects. Sein Vortrag „Mozilla: Making a difference in Germany“. Chris Hofmann stellt einige Zahlen zum Marketanteil von Mozilla vor, erkundet die Hintergründe des Wachstums und stellt Beteiligungsmöglichkeiten vor, den Browser noch besser zu machen.

Samstag, 6.3.2010  09:15-10:00 Uhr  mit mir „Getting involved into the Mozilla Project“ – Ich werde darueber reden wie sich jeder am Projekt beteiligen kann und mitarbeiten kann Firefox und die anderen Mozilla Projekte besser zu machen !

Ausserdem findet am Samstag von 14:30-15:15 Uhr ein Vortrag von Florian Effenberger und mir zu den Open-Source-Treffen statt, die Openoffice.org und Mozilla gemeinsam u.a. in München veranstalten.

Bis dann nächste Woche zur CeBIT und würde mich freuen viele neue Mozilla Community Mitglieder  kennenzulernen – schaut einfach bei uns Halle 2 Stand F-34 vorbei !

Liebe Freunde der Open-Source-Treffen,

das Programm für das Münchener Open-Source-Treffen am Freitag, 26. Februar, ab 18 Uhr steht nun fest (Anmeldungen sind immer noch per email an info@opensourcetreffen.de oder an mich direkt tomcat@mozilla.com moeglich). Diesmal werden wir das Thema freie Software und Markenrecht besonders beleuchten, und einen Ausblick auf künftige Entwicklungen im Browsermarkt wagen.

Anthonia Zimmermann, Rechtsanwältin bei Lovells LLP, wird uns in ihrem Vortrag “Füchschen in der Grube? Mozilla im Kampf gegen rechtswidrige Download-Angebote im Internet” Einblicke in die Markenrechts-Strategie von Mozilla geben und uns zeigen, welche Möglichkeiten auch die Anbieter von freier Software haben, gegen Missbrauchs ihres Namens und ihrer Zeichen vorzugehen. Im Anschluss daran wird Florian ein Update zur Anti-Abzock-Kampagne von OpenOffice.org geben, die seit September letzten Jahres läuft und bei der OpenOffice.org schon auf eine beachtliche Zahl von Rückmeldungen zurückblicken können.

Doch natürlich lässt sich Open Source auch auf legitime Art und Weise unter eigenem Namen weiterverbreiten und anpassen – am Beispiel des Build Your Own Browser-Systems wird uns Kev Needham von Mozilla zeigen, wie man eigene Firefox-Versionen erzeugen und verteilen kann.

Ganz besonders freuen wir uns, mit Chris Hofmann ein “Urgestein” im Browsermarkt begrüßen zu dürfen! Sein Vortrag “The future of innovation in the browser – studies, experiments, prototypes, and projects going on at labs.mozilla.com” wagt einen Ausblick auf das, was künftig zum Surf-Alltag gehören wird.

Auch für die nächsten Open-Source-Treffen am 26. März respektive 30. April stehen schon erste Themen fest. Für den März-Termin konnten wir Bernhard Fröhlich gewinnen, der uns etwas zu “Die CAcert Community – Wer, was, wo?” erzählen wird. Auch der zweite Vortrag befasst sich mit dem Thema Projekte und Organisation, denn Albrecht Günther wird uns eine Einführung in PHProjekt geben. Für den April-Termin freuen wir uns auf das Thema Sicherheit, und hören unter anderem eine Einführung in OpenVPN von Felix Kronlage.

Hinweisen möchten wir auch noch auf unseren CeBIT-Vortrag am Samstag, den 6. März, bei dem wir die Open-Source-Treffen vermutlich in Form eines Kochrezeptes vorstellen werden, wie schon auf der FOSDEM. 🙂

Also this year Mozilla has a booth at the world largest Computer Expo.
Mozilla’s booth will be in the CeBIT Open Source Area – Open Source Project Lounge – Hall 2 Booth F 34. Mozilla is sponsoring the Open Source Project Lounge.

During CeBIT 2010 Mozilla Staff and Community Members will be there to answer all Questions around the Mozilla Universe with as example OpentoChoice.org, Mozilla Labs (Testpilot/Jetpack), Build your own Browser (http://byob.mozilla.com) and of course Thunderbird and Mozilla Firefox.

Also Mozilla takes part with daily sessions in the Open Source Forum (Location: Hall 2, Stand F38) :

Tuesday 02.03.2010, 13:00-13:45 o’clock : Patrick Finch (Mozilla Marketing Europe) – “Why Firefox” – This session will cover some of the key design decisions in Firefox, from interface innovation to customisability, and answers the question, “Why Firefox?”

Wednesday 03.03.2010, 11:30-12:15 o’clock : Kevin Needham (Mozilla Channel I/O) – “Customizing Firefox with Build Your Own Browser” – Build Your Own Browser is a pilot application intended to simplify the process of creating a customized Mozilla browser (including Firefox) for distribution. During his talk, Kev Needham will provide an overview of browser customization and BYOB, why Mozilla thinks it’s an important tool for the community, and what it will evolve into in the coming months.

Friday 05.03.2010, 13:45-14:30 o’clock : Chris Hofmann (Mozilla Director Special Projects) – ” Mozilla: Making a difference in Germany” – Firefox has experienced another amazing year of marketshare growth around the world, and in particular Germany is one country that is leading this continued growth. We will review some of the numbers, explore what’s is behind this amazing growth, and how you can participate in helping to build a better browser and making the web better.

Saturday 06.03.2010, 09:15-10:00 o’clock : Carsten Book (Mozilla Software Engineer) – ” Getting involved in the Mozilla project” – Getting involved in the Mozilla project is much more than coding lines of code. There are many other areas where people can contribute to the project, like support, localization, QA, marketing, and much more !

wir freuen uns das nächste Open-Source-Treffen in München anzukündigen ! Die Veranstaltung findet am :

26.2.2010 ab 18 Uhr im Cafe Netzwerk (Luisenstrasse 11)  in München statt.

Auch dieses mal freuen wir uns besondere Gäste von Mozilla begruessen zu duerfen.

So ist dieses Mal aus Mountain View, California Chris Hofmann (er arbeitet seit 1996 an fast jeder neuen Mozilla/Firefox Version mit) und aus Canada, Kevin Needham (u.a. Projektleiter fuer Build your own Browser – http://byob.mozilla.com) mit dabei.

Thanks to the release of Firefox and it’s increasing marketshare over the last 5 years competition in the browser market is alive and well with Microsoft, Google, Apple,  and Opera producing new releases at more rapid rates.  Where will browsers go next.  The talk will explore Mozilla’s approach to research and innovating the browser and how you can participate in shaping the browser of the future. Current labs research projects including Weave, Jetpack, Test Pilot and a variety of others will be explored.

– Kevin Needham Customizing Firefox with Build Your Own Browser (http://byob.mozilla.com)
To date, only a small number of organizations distribute customized versions of Firefox. Build Your Own Browser is a pilot application intended to simplify the process of creating a customized Mozilla browser (including Firefox) for distribution. During his talk, Kev Needham will provide an overview of browser customization and BYOB, why Mozilla thinks it’s an important tool for the community, and what it will evolve into in the coming months.

Kev und Chris stehen Euch zudem selbstverstaendlich natürlich auch zu anderen Fragen rund um das Thema Mozilla gerne zur Verfügung.

Hi,

during the Weekend i was in Brussels, Belgium and visited the FOSDEM 2010 !

I was a great experience and a very great conference and great to meet a lot of coworkers and  friends from all across Europe and the rest of the world 🙂  !

Also of course Mozilla had a booth at FOSDEM !

We got a lot of visitors and was awesome to talk with the Community and have to say the Mozilla Community just rocks !

Also my talk about the Open Source Meetups in Germany, togehter with Florian, worked great and you can find the slides here !

A big thanks to everyone who made this Weekend possible, especially to William Quiviger!
