Add-ons Update – Week of 2013/09/19

I post these updates every 3 weeks to inform add-on developers about the status of the review queues, add-on compatibility, and other happenings in the add-ons world.

The Review Queues

  • Most nominations for full review are taking less than 5 weeks to review.
  • Most updates are being reviewed within 5 weeks.
  • Most preliminary reviews are being reviewed within 4 weeks.

These stats are taken from the last queue report:

  • 113 nominations in the queue awaiting review.
  • 115 updates in the queue awaiting review.
  • 136 preliminary review submissions in the queue awaiting review.

If you’re an add-on developer and would like to see add-ons reviewed faster, please consider joining us. Add-on reviewers get invited to Mozilla events and earn cool gear with their work. Visit our wiki page for more information.

Firefox 24 Compatibility

The compatibility blog post for Firefox 24 is up, and the compatibility bump for AMO add-ons was run last week. Also, if your add-on has binary XPCOM components and you built it using one of the early 24 betas, you’ll want to read this.

As usual we recommend using the Aurora and Beta branches to test your add-ons ahead of time.

Firefox 25 Compatibility

There are some pretty big changes coming up for future versions of Firefox. However, the Australis update has been delayed and hasn’t landed on Nightly yet. This means that it won’t happen until at least Firefox 27.

The full Firefox 25 compatibility post and bump are still pending, but should happen in the next week or two.

Amp Your Firefox Contest

The winners have been announced. Check them out and vote for your favorite so we can choose the top winner.

Mozilla Summit!

The Mozilla Summit is coming up, and we’re very excited to meet with add-on developers and reviewers again. Most of us will be going to Brussels, but we also plan to have some activities in Toronto. If you’re attending one of those Summits, look us up and say hi!
